News Carlton guernsey monogram change? Club to put vote to members on 15 October

I haven't been a proper member for a few years on account of not being able to attend games, but I'll be buying a three-game membership to vote for the old monogram. Good times.

    The numpty questions thread

What does Lester have to do to get selection? Admittedly I haven't seen a lot of the Lions this year but he's gone pretty well in what I have seen.

Dale Thomas - Papers lodged 7th October! - post #1200

Quite right. I guess I'm just always annoyed when supporters turn on players who leave their club, because those supporters are often also the first to call for a player to be delisted when they have a bad run.

Dale Thomas - Papers lodged 7th October! - post #1200

Interesting how friendly/supportive both team boards are about the Betts move, but the opposite for this one. Just the old Carlton/Collingwood rivalry rearing its head or is there something else to it?

News Eddie officially a Crow - post #217

Good luck to him, glad everyone else here is supportive, too. Was sensational to watch when he was on fire but we've not been able to make that forward line click consistently. Hopefully Adelaide can get a better set up going (just not against us).

    Opinion Wearing the white kit

Not sure why people are blaming the AFL, they simply asked Freo to wear white shorts, which the lower-qualifying team has done (but not always, admittedly) for aeons. You could wear the purple top with the white shorts, it would look great. However, I do think you have one of the best away...

    Carlton 2013 clash guernsey

Apart from the grey bits I don't mind it, but my problem with this: is that it's worn with white shorts. We don't watch black and white TV any more, and this would look better with navy shorts.

    New Song

I have no opinion of the song, but your club chose a bizarre voting system. In Australia we're all used to preferential voting - having the last ranked candidate removed and preferences redistributed until one candidate has a majority. It's one of the best voting systems in the world, and...

Post Game - 1st Semi Final - Carlton v West Coast

Yes umpiring wasn't great but it went both ways and had negligible effect on the result. Well done to West Coast. Well done Blues.

    Jumper v Carlton

    Well, that settles that.

    Jumper v Carlton

I agree with you all. West Coast should choose what it wants to wear, and Carlton should have to wear its clash strip (I love the white one and hate the powder blue but that's life). Having said that, I'd prefer it if clubs communicated before games to figure out something mutually beneficial...

    Jumper v Carlton

I'm just having a look at footyjumpers.com.au now to jog my memory, and I really like almost all of your tops. The 2000-2002 away top was a travesty, and I don't like the white clash you've been using since 2010 (like the Hawks' away guernsey it looks like a basketball top), but the rest are...

AFL Coaches Association Player of the Year - Dane Swan

Since the AFLCA award started I've regarded it as the real "best player" award. But I still think there's a place for the Brownlow alongside it, because it rewards something a bit different. I think many people are upset about the Brownlow this year because that they misunderstand what it is...

    New Blues logo?

I don't mind slow, subtle changes as long as the general idea of the plain monogram on a field of blue remains. It means that we can look back over the club's history and associate slightly different designs with different eras. We can see this doing its job just from the nostalgia in this thread.

Pies/Swans/Blues 3 way for Fev and Jolley

I agree with you completely. High picks are important in order to get new blood and keep the side fresh, but it's a gamble. A team needs to balance future and present. A proven player who'll fill a hole in a side for a few years to come is less risky. Each club needs to find the right balance...

AFL 2nd Elimination Final Brisbane Lions V Carlton Official Thread (#1)

Re: AFL 2nd Elimination Final Brisbane Lions V Carlton Official Thread That match still haunts me. The rest of my family barracks for Geelong. Carlton was the best team for three and a half years only to get one premiership. Looks like Geelong might suffer the same fate.

    St.Kilda takes spotlight off Blues

Sixth, I think - and then got flogged by Brisbane in week one and stayed in the finals! McIntyre's final eight was ridiculous, god knows why the NRL use it.

Workshop Create a Random AFL Guernsey

Re: Create an AFL Guernsey This is my favourite pattern. It's a clean and good looking design yet the the green part, via its angular shape, reminds one of the shape of Tassie. I'd probably prefer it to be reversed, though, and the above used as the clash/away top.

Workshop Create a Random AFL Guernsey

Re: Create an AFL Guernsey I forgot about that top, it's great (or, as you said, it would be with different shades of colours). Still a classic look, but not the same as any existing AFL clubs.

Workshop Create a Random AFL Guernsey

Re: Create an AFL Guernsey Yeah, I would be very happy with that. The reason I avoided the 'T' map was because a lot of people regard that as origin-only, and this would be a club made up mostly of interstate players. So, I stole the colours but not the logo.

Workshop Create a Random AFL Guernsey

Re: Create an AFL Guernsey The problem with modern guernseys is that they were designed while taking advantage of technology. In the old days they just pinned on a sash, and ended up with much more striking symbols than today's basketball-top-esque monstrosities. Guernseys shouldn't have...
