List Mgmt. “It’s a form of tanking” the Richmond rebuild

Could have just said you believe Geelong has the 2nd oldest list. In the history of the competition.

Who cares. I’d rather just tee off on the most inaccurate poster. In the history of this forum.

At any rate the average age of our best 22 in 2022 was 28.7.

The average age of our side that played the Lions was just over 27.

So I’m not sure how you work out that even with everyone a year older that they will be the second oldest team ever, especially with a 36 and 34 and 33 year old leaving.

Richmond are in a weird spot this year.

Seems like it's the worst draft in many years to hold the #1 pick but it's also probably one of best drafts in many years to have multiple bites at the first round.

Actually from what I hear there isn't a standout like some years. But there are probably about 6 or 7 'normal' pick 1's. Pick 1 isn't weak, just not super strong. After that, lots of good players for a long way into the draft.

I'm not an accomplished draft watcher by any means but I have followed it a bit more in the last few years.

I think the top end is pretty weak compared to most years. I certainly wouldn't be taking any of the top 5-6 guys over Reid/Walter/McKercher (I think Jagga is the closest to McKercher but even then I'd pick Colby before him) from last year. Ditto with Sheezel, Ashcroft and Wardlaw.

Just my 2c.

There have been a few really elite guys recently, who stand out from this year's crop. This year the standouts are all worthy pick 1's. But none are standout pick 1's. If that makes sense.

So the top one of two picks are weak compared to some of the recent years. But fairly much normal for other years. Eye of the beholder how you phrase that.

As the poster said below, just no… none of the names in the top 6-7 would be no1 any of the previous years or probably even pick 2-3. The top ten is weak compared to previous years. Reid mckercher both easily better than anyone in this crop.

It’s a good draft due to its depth into the 30’s-50’s range batting better than other years, but that’s it.

There really hasn’t been.

Sam lailor had some stinkers even in the national carnival and he is tipped as one of those 6-7 good players who might go no1

There are a lot of players fighting for that #1 pick for 2024 but if you were to compare them to previous draft alumni I can't see anyone from the current crop being on the same level as the likes of Reid, JHF, Daicos, McKercher, Sheezel and Wardlaw.

I don't think I'm alone in that opinion either.

Sam lailor would arguably go 5-12 range in most of the other drafts who is shaping as the most probable for the no1 pick.

Had a pretty disappointing showing in the national carnival

70+ posts in this thread telling all and sundry how ordinary this draft is, crazy.
Why don’t you pop on into the d&t board and share your gems? When you do, make sure you spell the draftees names correctly. It gives you a little more cred on the topic at hand.

Naaah, I’d rather stay here and listen to the gems of the Richmond fans saying there is 7 no 1 draft picks in this years crop

70+ posts posing as the draft expert in this thread suggests you are doing far more than ‘listening’.
It’s a fascinating topic to contribute to this thread. I have already stated many times that this draft has a mediocre top ten but has great depth throughout which is a common view held. Secondly that Richmond aren’t tanking.

You Richmond fans are just way too sensitive, including yourself

I’m not sensitive at all.

I’m enjoying reading your ‘expert’ analysis on the draftees

The amount of time you've spent writing posts about them in this thread doesn’t correlate to the amount of time you spent learning basic things about them like how to spell their names.

Let's hope, for Richmond's sake, a few of them become household names and we all learn to spell their names, and they don't become the 2020's version of Richard Tamberling and Tyrone Vickry.

Interesting call given there's a high probability the kid has a better career than the two high draft picks I mentioned.
And so he should- he’s a former high draft pick.

You’ve set the bar pretty low with those two but they eeked out 124 and 125 games respectively. But he looks to have the potential to be a role player for the cats and better than the two you mentioned. Will be interesting to see where he sits in the pecking order with Smith in the team.

Judging by your constant need to try to put down other posters I would say you are sensitive but trying to disguise it.

If you can’t handle the conversation, then you know the way out.

When the grammar and spelling police come out and start referencing post counts, you know he is very upset and emotional.
