Think that professional footballers should be at least able to kick 30-40 m with thier wrong foot when pressure dictates that they have to. It is fine to favour one side but in AFL would suggest that a player competent on both sides would be the best option.

Thanks champ - we are happy with CJ, and your "analysis" is getting a little stale. Thought you might have already got the hint.

Jones has done that kick a dozen or more times under pressure quite effectively - getting 40m+ (when he might get 30m on the right or get tackled as he slows down to take the kick).

No doubt in my mind that Riewoldt should have known what CJ was going to do.

Clinton Jones lacks alot of things, one thing he doesn't lack is guts. He is the person you want to run out for battle with. He is our Brett Kirk.

In a game that was as close as that you could go back to one of about one hundred things that happened during the game that could change the result (think Milne, Schneider, Hawkins poster, McQualter, Dawsons spoil bouncing the other way) I cant think of a single thing that Clint did wrong all day and honestly i think he was one of our best, left side right side whatever, sure he isnt the greatest kick but his goal and his job on Ablett all day more than makes up for it not just in this game but in every game.

After watching yesterdays game couldn't help but think that Jones is wasted in the tagging role.

The guys kicking has improved immensely since his WAFL days. He is tough, got good composure and most importantly he is FAST.

Taking a stab in the dark but maybe trading for a tagger and releasing Clint into the midfield may provide u guys with another dimension because as brilliant as Hayes, Montagna, Dal Santo and Ball are, they are not fast.

Think people may have missed my post but do u think Lyon will release Jones in the midfield. I watched him in the WAFL and think that he could probably be one of the comps elite mids, however he is being wasted as a tagger, thoughts????

Every side needs a lock down midfield player and a defensive lock down small. CJ and Baker are just about the only ones we have.

And if CJ can minimise the impact of the best players in the league each and every week, you'd be mad to change his role.

Not wanting to stone the guy. Just making an observation. You wouldn't want him to be in a similar position next year and do the same thing. Becoming more confident on his right foot would in my opinion be a great improvement for him.

Kade Simpson board.

Speaking of non-preferred kicks. How good was Gardi's left foot pass to Kosi on the outer wing in the 2nd quarter? On the run and kicks it 35m right down his throat. Amazing skills.

It's those drop kicks of his, a dying art among men and he is bringing it back despite how awkward he looks doing it considering his height.

Agree. Look at Ling. He's a champion and his basic role is a tagger. Even if our centre-line lacks pace I wouldn't change his role for anything.

I find all this criticism of CJ quite stunning, he's a freakin ornament to the team. Sure he has limitations but he knows them and regularly suprises you with effort or results. I don't understand why we give these joker's criitcisms the time of day. It's completely redundant. Next.

Would find it surprising that Reiwoldt would have expected Jones to kick a left foot bannana instead of a drop punt. Sorry if I am slow at taking a hint to get off your board.

One of the big differences at the moment between the saints and the blues, our players know each other and know what to expect from each other, as opposed to the blues who for whatever reason continue to expect Fevola not to get blind and abuse his teammates at public functions?

Not trying to say that Carlton are great in any way. I think the Saints play a much more disciplined brand of footy than Carlton do. My post has been about making constructive criticism. Seems like many on your board cannot accept this coming from a Carlton supporter. Think Jones is a very good footballer and was just surprised with his decision making in that one incident. Cannot imagine that he would have been happy with it either.

You don't watch much of the Saints, do you? Jones has used the banana kick all year in this situation.

I was there with my dad who is a north supporter last night and because we were in awe of what roo put up last night (seriously that was amazing) we totally forgot Harvey was even playing....until he got reported, i haven't looked up the stats but i would be amazed if he had more than 5 touches...

He had 5, equal to our very own McEvoy with last on the ground, yet unlike McEvoy who had several chances to get possie #6, Boomer decided he didn't want to play footy and went the biffo instead.

He's not slow though. If we had a new faster player he wouldn't be taking Jones' spot.
Lenny, DalSanto, and Armo are probably our slowest.
