The Enemy Within
Cancelled
Brown nominates the Saints we hold steady until the last day and then give them pick 50+ and a token player maybe Jones or Ray because his contract runs out at the end of the season .

AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
We have (the maximum?) 40 senior players this year.
Let's say that we lose 3 of Lenny, Milne, Kozi, Blake due to retirement. Maybe all 4.
Schneider depending on injury.
Potential trades of Ray, Gilbert, Milera and Jones who could all offer something to some struggling teams (more so than us). Lets just go for picks for these guys for now.
Delistings? Staley and Shenton off the rookie list? They have been showing a bit. Can you trade rookies for picks?
Lever? has had injuries, might be a bit unfair. Footy is a brutal game though.
Is Ledger in a bit of trouble?
So let's say we have 4 spots on our list from retirements, 4 from trades, 1 from delisting and 4 free rookie spots.
We may have 6 or 7 extra late picks from trades.
Trade a bunch of picks for a decent player. Pick up Brown and Thomas, upgrade 3 rookies (Curren, Ferguson, Minchington) with our last 3 picks and draft 3 young superstars.
Get in ready made bodies from the VFL like Cockie to fill up the rookie list.
Win the flag.
Simple.
cripps looks to be forcing gaff out of the side
You'll find if both Curren and Fergo are elevated we'll still only have one spot on the rookie list, Fergo is a scholarship. Not sure we will delist or promote staley, shenton or minch as they can all go another year on rookie list. Will have 2 spots open up with curren and ferg being elevated.
Lever will probably struggle for a spot next year IMO. Injuries or not.
At least 2 of our vets will retire and prob a couple of trade outs. Ideally go into draft with 4-5 picks and 2 more in rookie draft.
I was wondering why we had 5 on the rookie list instead of the 4 that would have brought us to the maximum 44 senior and rookie players. You'll find if both Curren and Fergo are elevated we'll still only have one spot on the rookie list, Fergo is a scholarship.

100% sure it still doesn't give us two rookie picks if we elevate them both, Only gives us 1. Unless we leave a spot on the senior list free.Think you'll find Fergo might not be classed as scholarship after this year though.

Kiwis I think qualify as international rookies, meaning a club can have up to three as supplementals on the rookie list and therefore not counting towards the cap.Very good point. Although i reckon we would pickup another one or another NZ youngster.

Can have upto 8 International Rookies.
Sound like free raffle tickets to me, may as well have a dip.its an absolute no brainer to start to fill that out over the next 3 years. like we do the rookie list

As i said up the top may have missed some, But got what i could from all other boards......
Agree on Watts, under a better development club he would be All Australian or pushing close to get one IMO and would be living up to his pontential. Would love for us to get him and give him a go, Lining up learning off Riewoldt would do him wonders!!!! But the price to get him would be big.I still think Jack Watts is a good footballer. Although he seems to be soft and he gives little effort, at a better club he would be a more than serviceable player. I think he would slot in nicely on a wing or a flank. Talented athlete and he is a strong mark, I doubt he would cost much.
One player I am interested in is Josh Kelly. Impressive in the U18 championship as a 17 year old. Although he isn't a trade target, I think the Saints should go after him.
Everyone on the saints board should know about my love for Adam Cockie!! Seems he is again doing everything right to get an second AFL chance, Hopefully St Kilda give him a chance if he keeps this up. Should have rookie spots this year as well, Curren & Ferguson have to be elevated or delisted i think.
Turned 24 a week ago mate.Dude, he's only 23! (http://truezebras.net/2012/12/18/adam-cockie/ - thanks Shaun!). Why the hell wouldn't we get him? I can't believe we didn't try to sneak him in somehow last year. I could certainly cope with him taking Blake's spot on the list next year, for example.
