Under the deal, which is under discussion and yet to be finalised, Griffen and the Dogs' first pick, No.6, would go to the Giants in return for Boyd.

Boyd has been offered a deal believed to be six years and in excess of $6 million.

While this represents a backdown by the Giants - who had vowed Boyd would not be traded under any circumstances - the club will emerge with Griffen and an extraordinary draft yield of picks 2, 6 and 7.

If the deal is completed, the Giants will be in a position to trade for pick one from St Kilda.

Theories on picks 3 and 4.
Isn't that a waste if we are planning on drafting a mid?
If petracca brayshaw going 1 and 2,
We take mccartin. Skipping wright for a mid?
If the next batch of mids is rated so closely as people are saying, couldn't we get just as good a prospect at 7 as 4?

Ergo. If we are offered 3 and 4, wouldn't we be better off saying; how about 3, 7, and some steak knives?

Great result for the potential pick 1 trade. If they give us 4, 6 and 7 for 1 I will just about lose the plot (can't see it unfolding like that).

If it's 1 and 22 for 4, 6 and 7 we are still placed particularly well.

Bring on the pick 1 trade.
