Hartigan excelled this year in a system that meshed. His efforts against Buddy when he had to stand up after Talia and Lever went down was outstanding. That has earned him some brownie points from me.

In a different side Hartigan might struggle but currently and with the system we play he is a key. I would pencil him in for 25 games next year ( if fit)

So your saying, and this is common, that Hartigan in a good side performs well ......but put him into a Brisbane and he may struggle ?

Now if you asked the same question re Lever, he would perform at his current level, no matter which club he played for !

That's entirely my point .....our team success makes certain players appear better than they are ....IMO Lever is the better CHB and an Otten as the third tall (example) would give our defence more smarts & flexibility ......we'll see how the season plays out shall we?, i'm not screaming for Hartigans relegation BTW

Didn't you say the same last season... & Shaw won't be replacing him now!

I'm not one to agree a lot with Wayne when it comes to contentious points, but I can see where he's coming from here. Wayne's expecting Lever to fill out or gain the strength required to be a genuine KPD. If this was to happen it would cause us a bit of concern regarding going in with 3 KPD's each week. Plus Doedee, future midfielder, who's looking like being on a steep incline will likely start off in a similar role to what Lever is playing now. This puts a fair squeeze on the present KPD's for week in, week out selection.

But I think it's more hope than anything else from Wayne that this will be happening in 2017. But if all goes to plan and Lever fills out, the squeeze may be on in 2018.

What a massive statement, Lever is the better player

Hartigan is currently the better one on defender though and Lever excels as the third tall. You want to mess with that and introduce Otten who is slow and most probably in the last year of his afl career?

You've lost it Wayne.

Always happy to be called out .....shall we discuss my calls of Knight & Cameron as midfielders  ......everyone saying Charlie was a small forward full stop and Betts replacement longterm

Or shall we discuss my pre-season prediction of Menzel unlikely to play much in 2016, when all were gung ho as a walk up start ......do i hear a BUT coming ? .....yes i know the proviso was "if he is fit" :p

Anything else you want to call me out on?? ......what about my call on Mackay when everyone else AGAIN saying he would not play AFL again in 2016

You don't seem to understand the definition of 'all'. You use the word a lot when pumping up your own tyres, but I really don't think you know what it means.

And you believe a player should be selected purely on his size  .....rather than contribution to the team .....WOW!

Surely this isn't coming from "Neale is a midget, need a 7ft marking mid" himself...

Wayne Hartigan works. He has more speed and strength than our other key defenders and we would have been towelled up many a time without him. Lever ain't playing on no Tippets or Franklins I tell you that.

Sorry, the Westhoff comparison is a long way off the mark. Much better contested mark and a lot lore aggression. Himmelberg's already 89kg, and he has a frame which will allow him to easily put on weight. I realise Haggis has called him a KPF, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him play a Cale Hooker-like swingman role, eventually. And Hooker became a regular at 20.

Again, I'm not saying I think Hartigan is the next Alipate Carlile. He has a very good mix of athleticism and strength, and works very well with DT. I really like him - I just feel like Himmelberg could be better.

We will see but very rarely will a tall thin player bulk up quickly hence why ruckmen often take a long time. I think we will see him start as a forward which fits with jenkins time line moreso than hartigans.

And yet you continue to support the selection of Mackay, who's got 160 under the belt and at best is 22nd selected. Even then, that's with 3 injuries ahead of him. CEY gets his crack with only 1 person missing through injury, rest or suspension.
Saw that coming a mile off. Happy for Mackay to be held to the same standard in 2017 (i.e. easily replaceable by a youngster with potential). I've said all pre-season that I expect Knight to take his place in the team.

Not fully. He's accepted that Dmac might struggle, but he's certainly not written him off.
He was the 21st or 22nd player selected most weeks this year. He held his place because there weren't many (if any) youngsters gunning for his place in the team, partly due to injury (Hampton, Knight), partly due to a lack of quality (CEY, Grigg, Gore), partly because they just weren't ready (Wigg, Doedee). That equation could well change in 2017, with the likes of Knight, Hampton, Menzel, Wigg, Doedee, Gallucci, and Poholke all potentially gunning for a position in the 22.

Mackay's position is definitely vulnerable, which I have stated previously on many occasions. I have no problem with Mackay being dropped to the SANFL if it's making way for a youngster with potential. I don't see any point in replacing him with CEY - at best that's the equivalent of rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic.

Our midfield does not make even one of our defenders look better than they are. Our patented 'red carpet' system of applying pressure between the arcs and from lost stoppages results in our defenders almost always being under more pressure than they should be.

It appears to me that there has been an influx of Crows articles in the Advertisers that include player interviews, all since a certain muppet went on leave. I guess the Crows Administration have only just now made the players available. Coincidence...? So far just recently we've had CEY, Knight and now RAT.

Hopefully the powers that be at the Advertiser take note...

Could be a coincidence. Could also be that the players are now back at training, after having time off since the end of the season. Could also be a concerted effort to keep the club's profile high during the off-season. Could also be the fact that the muppet is overseas on his own holiday.

Yeah thought about those other reasons, but the last one is the one I'm hoping for...

Pretty sure they have just been the weekly press conferences that the advertiser have written as if they are exclusive interviews

CEY is basically a Thommo replacement Imo. Can't play in the same midfield as Thommo and isn't outside at all. If Dmac comes out, he comes out for an younger, more promising talent like you've listed.

On the contrary, I think CEY and Thommo will make an excellent midfield combination. I think they'll be playing a lot of games together next year.

With Thommo & Mackay playing mainly SANFL in 2017, they should help out the development of our younger midfielders...

So did the Neale end up at the Crows ? .....no! Not a Need !

Lets see what happens re Hartigan ......if you read my post thread, then you'll understand my position, if you jumped on one post, you won't have a clue
