They had their two years in the sun

Equilibrium is about to come back.

50 billion Chinese people watched that rubbish lol.

We have plenty of weird sports on obscure foxtel channels too. I'd be surprised if 50 Chinese people were watching.

Port sacking Hinkley would be admitting the last couple of years have been bad, Koch and KT shouldn't escape criticism for extending Kens contract before he was under any pressure, but still hadn't performed amazingly that year.

Signs of Koch getting too involved are all over this club, recruiting from reality tv shows, hiring their second most important coach from a reality tv show, I don't think the footy department would make these decisions, this is marketing.

Their whole turn around has been based on the perception they have become a destination club, gets everything right.

Now that the on field is a real problem, people will start looking back at all of the stunts and distractions and realise they aren't really that different from where they were pre-Koch, crowds will drop and so will the sponsors.

If Ken leaves it will be the most spun coach sacking in history.

I almost feel bad for Ken, he probably wasn't a terrible coach when well resourced, but has had to do all of their marketing, promoting, gimmicky crap and the distractions are huge.

So happy that so far Fagan has been genuine about creating a no spin football club, with the best football department set up, it might not be full of the biggest names or whatever else but Don Pyke has been able to Coach in his own way, and focus almost just on coaching related stuff, no changing his message to suit marketing slogans, no pressure of cameras in the pre-match.

No club serious about winning a premiership should choose to play a game in China, even if it is before they bye week, the travel and promotion would surely cancel out the benefit every other club gets from having a bye.

Fagan has been great, stays in the background, speaks well when interviewed but never promotes himself, or over promises, 100% focused on being the best we can be for the purpose of winning games of football.

It seems for Port the being a successful club off field, and winning games of football are two seperate things.

Even a blind folded dart thrower getting wizzy dizzies can get it right sometime. Come on down Geoffa after all these years your planets are aligned. Enjoy the
train wreck of a club you dissed. Shine Geoffa shine. Its your time now.

The Port Adelaide Football Club I supported in the SANFL would never take style over substance.

The Power is all about Hollywood and boosting "kochies" ego.

You rank and file supporters have all been sucked into it.

The pregame was pretty good today, does that make you happy?

Just saw the footage of the Jonas/Pittard stuff at the end of the first quarter. So that's the 2nd week in a row they've resorted to dirty shit because they lack the actual talent to win a game of footy.
That worked out well for them tonight, the melee fired up Geelong and they never looked back... 2 totally different teams came out after the break.

Hinkley may be a shit main coach, but one should not under estimate the amount of on-field damage (to players/coaching staff) that a character such as Koch-head can do to a club.

There's a lot of truth in that. When Boards get involved in operations it all turns pear-shaped. Enter David Koch and Port Adelaide.

Would make an interesting case study.

Confucius say: man who say he will never give up, and then give up, is a Port man.

Herein lies problem at Port, Koch is good at putting all this fluff out there which the Port supporters eat up with a spoon, but there is a tonne of problems if you scratch the surface. To give the perception that Port are a "destination club" they overpaid players based on name value and traded away a shit tonne of picks in the process. Thankfully the Port supporters have been too busy hash tagging Kochie and Hinkley's catchphrases to notice that the lack of quality draft picks over the last three years has left a massive hole in their list and now the club is reaping what they have sown.

So true, we lost our draft picks through sanctions and horrible negotiation skills, they traded away their first round picks for ready made players as they appeared to believe they were on the cusp of great times.

We at least realised our dilemma and tried to redress our situation trading out an older Vince for a younger Crouch ( draft pick) and keeping our subsequent 1st rounders to bring in some young elite talent in Milera and Lever.
I'm dead set against trading our 1st round picks for anyone because of the imbalance those Tippett sanctions left us with. Young first and second round talent needs to be continuously developed underneath the main squad ready to step up when called upon.
Free agents like Betts and Seedman, JJ etc plug deficiencies and improve lists quickly but those 1st rounders if a success are the cream that rises to push a team to the next level.

3 weeks ago Port fans were saying how huge of an out Hartlett was against us - now they want him sacked of the vice captaincy and dropped immediately lol.
One of 11 players with less than 15 touches. The guy walks tough and talks tough but is as buttery as it gets.

Edit - 13 players

THE TARPS ARE COMING!!!!!!

How is it Port thought it was a good idea to not have a first round draft pick since Wines, instead choosing to throw them away on plodders like Polec and Dixon. Pick 10 and what is looking like a low 20's pick for Dixon is hilarious, in the mean time we have added Crouch, Mcgovern, Lever and Milera.

I think I genuinely feel for Port supporters who pay their money and support their club. The rank and file members who go to games and cheer on their team.

They have been taken over by a bunch of egotistical people who are using that club to push their own agendas and boost their egos to try and be something bigger than an AFL club can ever be.

The club is so divided in its purpose right now. Their main business is to win an AFL Premiership, not grow the game in China.

Ambitions is great, but if you can not get the basics right, ambition is useless.

He is not an AFL standard Head Coach.

Richo and Walshy held his hand in the first two years. Since going alone he has taken Port into a downward spiral.

Lets not forget that Leon Cameron was their first choice coach, but he used Port to get a better deal from GWS.

They wont sack him (can't afford it) and Port will struggle for as long as he stays there.

The guy is a moron.

I think Hinkley has strengths in communication and player management, but is clueless in terms of tactics.

I have often listened to Alan Richardson's press conferences and always thought that he has a really deep understanding of the game tactically as did Phil Walsh. Ken on the other hand sounds like he is still running off Phil Walsh's tweaked version of Alan Richardson's 2013 gameplan and seems to only understand and focus on player output ie people need to work harder, be braver, run harder, take the game on.

What do Port do with him ?

Do they bring in help ? Is there any value retaining a coach who has four years under his belt who still desperately needs someone in the coaches box holding his hand ?

Interesting times ahead....

Brenton Sanderson mark 2 absolutely.

Beauty is that paps have breakfast tv presenters, politicians and game changing social media people on their board.

No Roo, no Chapman, no one who is in it for more than themselves
Our Roo might be Wazza Tredrea, one can only hope.

Koch doesnt have the balls to sack Ken.

He's pure spin
Ken might be his ticket out.

Once the wins and fairytale rags-to-riches story opportunities dry up all Koch will be left with is a three year China millstone to push uphill.

He can sack Ken and say the only honourable thing is for him to resign too, given that he backed Ken in.
