Statistically his year in 2015, was very similar to Hickey's this year. His impact probably wasn't as significant but if he doesn't have the shoulder reco last year, he starts the season as our No.1 Ruckman, and potentially holds his spot for the year.
I'd be shocked if they were statistically similar personally.

And seems you severely underrate him. I hate it when big men don't make an impact in their first few years!! Get a grip. They take atleast 4... and was asked to be the guy before he was ready. As far as I'm concerned you're dead set useless to this thread.
Im a realist mate. One of our ruckman is gonna go this trade period, cant keep 4 on our list surely and longer would get us the most out of the 3

If we did end up getting Stevens and he's best 22 along with Steele, that would give us 10 players in our starting line up (a couple
More in the VFL) that have been recruited from other clubs. Would any other club have that many in their best 22?

1. Without checking, I highly doubt it. Hawthorn and Carlton spring to mind.

2. Who cares? Back in the GF days of 2009-2010 there used to be a lot of discussion about the home grown teams versus the artificial import teams, with the implication being that it wasn't really St Kilda/(insert team name) if the players had played elsewhere.

These days, if anything the trend has changed. Teams that can piece together their premiership teams using unconventional tactics are lauded as genius list managers and enterprising.

Love it or hate it, long gone are the days where you can win a premiership by using your three/four draft picks each year until you have a good team.

Would like the Saints to bring in Darcy Gardiner. Would be a great fit and another nice addition to our 2013/14 drafts top 25 picks

1 McCartin
3 Billings
10 Freezer
15 (B) Steele
18 Dunstan
19 Acres
21 Goddard
22 McKenzie
22 Gardiner

To clarify, when I say similar, Hickey shaded him in nearly every stat. Except for Hit Outs, which Billy averaged more.
Comparatively, Billy was 22 years old in his last full season - At the same age, Tom looked like he'd struggle to make the grade at all.
Ruckmen take time, everyone knows that. Billy will be a premium ruckman at some stage, whether he does it with St. Kilda or not remains to be seen.

He barely showed anything in 2015. Dead set useless around the ground. So many people on here grossly over rate our players

I suggest you go & watch a few games from 2015.

So many people have 10 second memories & grossly overrate the accuracy of what they post

I don't care at all, was just an interesting stat that all.

It's a very different path to what the Dogs have gone down, who mostly just got their players through the draft. I don't think there is a right or wrong way to do it, everyone we have brought in has been at a very good price and have all been best 22 except for Freeman, who may also come good. The best thing about it is that we are keeping our first round picks.

Yep, getting bargain trades through savvy dealing is the only way we can compete.

The Dogs did buck the trend in some ways but even they had a few very handy father sons, some very good late picks (JJ, Caleb) and got valuable compensation for players that went to expansion clubs at just the right time of their rebuild.

I still want Rockliff. Brisbane will be getting rid of him.

A chance for a bargain. Take the calculated risk that our brutally strong leaders can straighten him out

Brisbane won't be getting rid of him if it's at bargain price. Fair chance if he leaves as a FA next year they get a top 3 pick for him.

wait 12 months and get him for nothing

The gap between Kobe's best and worse is enormous.
But I am all for bringing in players who are capable of breaking the game wide open. Get enough of them on the field and one of them is bound to punish you. Just hope he can increase his consistency and play a couple of different roles.

I see Koby as a low risk top up. Our young mids are still inconsistent, and he would help fill the age gap between vets and kids.

He would bolster our inside brigade and still has a few years left in him as opposed to bringing in a 30 ufa.

Also puts pressure on the kids to compete for spots and takes the heat off Steven.

At the right price, a decent addition who can have immediate impact.

I agree. A genuine moneyball selection.

He might also surprise. A chap in his mid 20s, hardened campaigner with ability. He knows this would be his best & last chance to establish himself.

His tweets about women, along with a host of other factors, mean that he will not fulfill the "good character" requirement that our recruiters have.
