We Traded McEvoy and Pick 24 -------> Pick 18 + Pick 19 and Savage.
(we also traded 59 but it was used for a rookie upgrade)

Its going to take a lot more than just a low teens pick to trade Armitage out.
Armitage not only provides a presence on field he also has provides it off field.

Maybe part of his shrewd strategy to get out of the Lions, and lowering the value Lions get for him through trading, as he hates them so much. All that would require is some smart thinking........oh, ok.....yep, just a stupid mistake

Until this year Billy Ave more tackles per game than Hickey and Hickey only has 11 more career tackles at AFL level and Billy didn't play a game this year!

If Mumford is Billy's ceiling then that's awesome. Mumford is arguably the Giants most important player, in a team full of first round picks it was his injury that took them out last year and Tom Boyd's work to negate him in the prelim went a long way to getting them in the Grand Final.

Is he as mobile and athletic as Hickey? No. But he throws his body around and makes sure the opposition don't get any clean ball out of the middle.

Just because Mumford is Billy's ceiling does not mean I think he will get there. Does he have the work ethic to do it? For the Billy lovers, did anybody see his attempts to chase from the contest at VFL level this year? Straight up uncompetitive. We keep hearing he is this competitive beast, yet if he is so competitive why was he happy to consistently put in lacklustre efforts at VFL level? For a competitive beast, he sure rolled over pretty damn quick when Hickey went past him.

It is just personal preference, but I don't have time for these type of players unless they are supremely skilled. Longer clearly is not. His skill set is below average, hence his work ethic needs to be above average. Clearly this is not the case at the moment, I would rather prioritise Pierce's development. At least he looks like he wants it.

Port have serious cap issues and need to do offloading or else they will be stuck treading water for 5 years.

Port obviously sent him to Melbourne to meet with anyone (including us) who are keen on his services.
He tells port, I'd go to x and y... But no way z.

Port say... shiiit.
Z are the only ones who will take your contract and pay us something decent at the trade table.

I'm off to spend my 700k.


Sounds like port are now looking at offloading him to x or y at a discount.

None of the players we are discussing trading in will win more contested ball than David Armitage in an "ordinary" year.
Steele probably has the most potential.
Stevens would have to make a quantum leap at age 25.

Terrible list management in the past 4 years has led to an awkward position where they've got too many players on high end deals.
I was sharing a very beers with a current and former PA player just under 12 months ago and they both voiced pretty strong opinions of Hinkley which sounded as though they reflected the opinion of much of the playing group.
It'll be a big twelve months at Alberton.

I wonder if Harlett tells them where to go now? Their preference is clearly to trade him out, they just don't want to get reamed. Hope we get in his managers ear again and make him feel welcome at the Saints.

Would much prefer Harlett on $600K than Stevens on $450K. Both are overs from a $ perspective but Harlett's right boot is worth the extra coin. Would be in our best 12 players, Stevens would just be another fringe player.
