You know what? if GC want to play hard ball, I'd turn around and tell them to take what we are offering, or we will make their academy selections hell for the next several years. If they have any acadmey players they are hoping slip, just start bidding on them one by one, forcing GC to match or lose them.

Screw those campaigners.

Tell Brisbane we will give them Pick 6 and a player for Pick 2, and will bid on Bowes unless they take the 6 for Prestia and 26/30 first.

Who cares about the spirit of things?

You think theplayers under free agency give a shit about the spirit of things? Lids was saying just a month ago he's committed to being a one club player, yet he approached the cats in July

Players have no loyalty, they do what's in their best interests

We should do the same
Wondered what's in it for Pask making that comment the other day. I'm under no illusion as to why Prestia named us. $$$$$. Pask puts pressure on us via the media for pick 6. Does he know no deal without therefore misses out on a good pay day?

"Them"

The speculation is legit though. Word for some time had been he was receiving a three year deal, and even his hawks presser initially had three years.

Word on the Hawks board is he has an option for a third at $150k, which gives the original three year deal, but allows us compo for the two years at a higher rate. Other clubs are not happy as reported yesterday (complaints we conspired to draft tamper - which we did kinda), but thankfully the afl is in "I see nothing" mode.

Its speculation. Plausible and I could believe it but non-factual at this stage. Unless you are Ty Vickery. Are you?

Of course. 1) he earns a %age of the players earnings, so he wants their income maximized, and 2) he wants his client happy so they don't leave him, and that means getting the deal he wants done

Outside lids cotchin and jack, we have no trade currency

No one wanted Lennon, Conca, and the other emo gen y cry boys

So what your saying is that since the current coach arrived, only Dusty has arrived after and been developed to have any real trade value.
The others arrived before hand.
That is not surprising really.

A straight six with no return for Prestia is a joke

If this is what GC are insisting on, we should call off the discussions and walk. Prestia is not worth pick six
They clearly want Pick 6 more than we want Prestia.
Something tells me there is some seriously good quality available if we keep 6. I am more than happy to hold onto it.

What I'm saying is this is a bad year to sell any of our players because we will be getting unders off their 2016 performances

I've said it before and I'll say it again

Trade 6 to sydney for 14 17 Nankervis
Offer 14 to Gold Coast coast for Prestia
Take 17 to the draft
Hope Nankervis keeps developing

Out : 6
In : Prestia,Nankervis,17
And give 17 to bris for rocky.
Pick 6 gives us rocky and Prestia. Done!!!

Tell Gold Coast it is Prestia and 26 or 30 for Pick 6

Offer Brisbane 6 and Lennon for Pick 2 and something back (maybe gardiner)

Tell the Suns whoever accepts the deal first gets pick 6.

Call their bluff.

That implies we could execute a trade strategy when we've had a relatively good year. When clearly we can't. As such there is no good or bad time with the current list management capability we have.

So it doesn't matter, as long as we have the current regime in place we will get it wrong or fluke a pick or trade.

Weren't we one of the few last year that kept bidding on academy players? Payback?

Despite reports on Friday, Prestia remains committed to joining the Tigers on a five-year deal and would not return to Gold Coast and sign a new contract if a trade was not completed.

PSD it is then if GC don't play ball
sauce?

It's not the only factor, and yes you do manage around it. Ellis had a shocker 2016 and so did sheds, but both are not vital to our squad. Trading them in 2015 when clubs are actively inquiring and bidding would make sense. This year, no.

Then you have Lennon. I'd only sell a player off an injured year if you were just looking to clean house with them. It's the worst time to sell.

We bid on Kennedy and Hipwood from memory before taking Rioli.
