I don't think they care about his contractual situation to be honest.
They may not trade him to make a point, even if they lose out a bit.
Things like this set a precedent for future dealings and obviously GC are proving very hard to deal with.
They may enjoy having that reputation.
Fact is that Essendon or someone else will pick him up in the PSD if he doesn't get traded to us.

- He despises the club
- They wouldn't pay him enough

The other point is GCS told everyone they were after players, not picks. Now they are fixated on pick 6.

My view, which you may disagree with, is that you must participate in the trade period before being claimed as "gone missing". Plenty of clubs in my opinion (which is complete speculation) have decided not to even bother with the trade period and go to the draft.

So those clubs that have made claims of participating heavily in the trade period but have yet to bring in a trade in the first week could potentially be tagged by speculative media commentary as "gone missing". Just my opinion though, which has no basis in fact whatsoever.
