I might be on my own here but I think adding Gibbs will be really good for Douglas.
I think he will fly under the radar of opposition clubs this year and be able to go HFF HBF and the odd run through the middle.
Makes my best 22.
I have been advocating Galluci transitioning for Douglas. I would still like to see it but it is Dougies to lose. Galluci isnt doing himself any favours atm with injuries (understanding they cant be helped) but timing is everything

I am hoping as much as anyone that Gallucci will come on this year, but he has a fair way to go before he is displacing Douglas IMO.

And there seems to be an outright refusal to consider Seedsman or Hampton for that role for whatever reason. Seedsman in particular seems to be the absolute perfect Smith replacement to me.
I know that when Hampton was recruited to AFC one of the things that appealed to him was that we seen him as a fwd/mid. He hated playing HBF at GWS.

Think Hampton would be very very grateful to be anywhere in our AFL team and I think he should do alright there as can tackle and would have more time to break free and use pace and might make more right decisions.
Of course he would, but that explains why he hasn’t been used there. Because the club sees him as a fwd/mid. That’s where he cemented a spot last year before injury.

Been at my brother in laws joint all day scoffing down slow cooked ribs out of his smoker and watching the NRL... it was hard work..

On the drive home they said on the radio that Dangerfield had done a hammy in geelongs JLT game today??.. not sure how bad it is?... anyone have any further news?.. could put a dent in his Brownlow chances.

What round have we got Geelong?.. be good facing them without danger..
It was a calf. And we don't play Geelong until round 17.

Cemented? He was on the verge of being dropped, only a timely injury saved him the ignominy.

Douglas I don’t mind. Has always been that solid B grade midfield cog, but I will say that going into the season, Douglas off HB doesn’t fill me with much confidence.

I don’t like the idea, but I will happily stand corrected and applaud the coaches if it works.

Mackay is just Mackay.

Douglas isn't shit.

Stupid assessment.

Wasn’t my point but understand how people interpreted that from a 4 word post.

The idea of moving Douglas to HB when we have a clone of Brodie Smith in Seedsman is the idea I think is “shit” (to an extent, not coming out guns blazing and all).

As I said above, will stand corrected if it works.

But like not even trialling Seed there? Ehh...

The club seems to prefer him on the wing, and finds any reason under the sun not to play him at half back. Even Mackay’s general shitness and rag doll antics aren’t enough to earn Seeds a gig there.

As to why, I have no idea.
So far, he's been similarly effective.
He's been injured and underdone. Not this year. Make or Break for seeds.

Thanks for the clarification as I thought you were claiming Douglas was a rubbish player.

Imo, if we have Douglas, Seedsman & Milera in the side, we have options to play HBF, wing & up forward.

Prefer playing these guys with foot skills than either Gibson or Mackay.

If we need to rely on a top up player to improve our list mid-season then we are in worst shape than I ever thought.
Doug my be a good player but our list managers and recruiters need their arse kicked if we lack that much player depth.
Spoken like a man that has never seen Doug play. Doug is the future, bookmark it.

Apart from Saturday yeah I had never seen him play. Not that I took much notice of the top up players but was Doug the left footer with the curly blonde hair that got shirt fronted? Did kick some nice goals if that was him. I thought Luke Brown was a balanced footballer in that game. Doug is.... the future...I'm sure I heard that once before.

We know how you feel about Hampton Vader. We all know you think he was crapola and on the verge of being dropped. We all know you use the coaches votes to validate your position.

WE DON'T NEED TO BE REMINDED EVERY TIME SOMEONE MENTIONS HAMPTON.

That Jenkins kid has real potential, was blown away by his ability to crash the packs and smash through anyone. He is definitely the future of the club, one of the toughest youngsters I have seen play.

Oh wait I meant Darcy Fogarty

My bad

Unfortunately the people that recruited him are no longer there. His abilities or his belief in his abilities must be put to the betterment of the team. I want to play FF but as a 177cm overweight old man I think my best shot is a bench spot. I'm taking it if it means a game

I agree; Seedsman is a slightly poorer version of Smith - why we don’t want to use him off half back has me stumped.

I think it’s because they want him closer to goal, having said that if we continue to have no run from defence they might do it.

We actually did in the SANFL, and he kept getting touched up so was moved up the ground

No.

Gibbs is here to improve the class of our midfield.

I doubt Pyke thinks differently. Much easier to score from the bounce than from defense.

CEY competes with Greenwood for that 5th mid spot.

HBF will need to be Douglas, Seedsman or Milera.

Then we're probably stuffed as those three will let us down. They'll have their moments but grand final's aren't won with that lot running the ball out of defence.
