Apart from Saturday yeah I had never seen him play. Not that I took much notice of the top up players but was Doug the left footer with the curly blonde hair that got shirt fronted? Did kick some nice goals if that was him. I thought Luke Brown was a balanced footballer in that game. Doug is.... the future...I'm sure I heard that once before.

Yes, that was Doug. I was sitting in the stand in the first half and two of Doug’s mates yelled out everytime Doug was within 50 metres of the ball. As it happens the previously unknown Doug starts to rip the game apart as a small forward. I couldn’t stand it any longer so I moved down to the terraces after half time and when we ran out, a call comes from behind the goals, “onya Dougy”. My key points are
1) Doug is a popular guy
2) Doug performed better than half of our AFL listed players. If Ben Jarman had played that game (Ben played quite well) everyone would be calling for him to get a game in the AFL.
3) It is difficult to tell who is AFL ready from SANFL matches, let alone trial matches.

Would like to see Rory Sloane spend time off half back this year.

Has the gut running to get up the ground, has the defensive game as well and is reliable under pressure. Free him up from the tag a bit.

Other end of the park for me ... much more dangerous as a forward.

His field kicking is probably his least impressive characteristic on the field.

Sloane is a great contested mark, and a great shot for goal. I think using him up forward to apply pressure and contest makes more sense.

Gibbs is the one who should be the mid-distributor out of the back half. He has elite kicking, elite vision.

Without turning this into another Jenkins thread, my god his stats from 81% TOG are bloody awful.
Its interesting to see the bigger differentials in CP and UcP for all the players. I think I can spot the outside runners ie Gibson 4 v 17 , Atkins 3.5/15 , Mackay 3/11 etc. There are others Otten and JJ that stand out for other reasons

Then there are those who have received a lot of love and the reasons CEY 12/5 and Greenwood 7/1 and why Harry Dear got some love 5/3.

Its a good table to analyse these little things

Interesting injury list out
Taylor Walker (foot)
Brodie Smith (knee)
Jordan Gallucci (foot)

"Captain Taylor Walker is hopeful he will be fit for Round 1 despite missing "
"Jordan Gallucci is still recovering from a foot strain that stalled his pre-season campaign"
"The good news is Daniel Talia got through the game unscathed after an ankle complaint and Hugh Greenwood also made a successful comeback after foot surgery"

Interestingly supports the rumour I am hearing re B Crouch Back in full training. And would have Played Sat if was for Points.

Where did you see this injury list?

Gallucci didn’t look right in the Twos. I thought he came off limping in the last quarter but it may have been one of the top up players because he came back on later in the quarter. Did anyone else who was at Richmond Oval see this? Also, wtf is a foot strain? A rather vague description, ankle? archilles? PF?

Whilst Milera is no longer on the injury list, he is well short of peak fitness. Also no comment on the withdrawal of ROB and Davis from the Twos trial.

ATS somewhere between one and twelve players unavailable for Round one .

From Ben Hart just now: Milera clearly the preferred HBF replacement for Smith, otherwise Douglas or Dmac. Seed didn't rate a mention.
Smooth moving great ball user. Playing Wayne off the back flank could be the making of the kid.

Will find some easier ball and doesn't need much of it to hurt the opposition.

Hi lads, read a rumor about Tex today - plantar fascia. Have you heard this at all?
Viney had this issue as well, rushed back and was in a world of hurt - took him all off season to get over it.

Agreed. Reads it like no other and delivers pin point. Not the zone breaking kick of Smith... more likely to be laser guided missiles into the corridor. The position is a good fit for him at this stage of his career though.

And there's the speed we are looking for too.

He's probably a more consistent, if less damaging kick than Smith
