We need elite players not foot soldiers. I like zones but don't think he's worth what Sydney would want.
Ideally Whitfield for 2018 first and maybe a few later picks
Lever for our first and maybe a later pick
And rockliff as a FA
Or change Whitfield for hopper and rockliff for Martin maybe harder in the salary but I would assume it would bek. Draft best mid with hawks pick and win a premiership in 2018.

One thing about Sydney though is they don't often play hard ball with players who want to leave. They seem to be pretty fair to deal with.

I don't mind Stevens as he will at least be a handy back up and at best he's that Stephen Powell type of handy mid rotation. Brown I'm still not sold on, he can hold the big guys for 3 quarters then the dam bursts and they kick what they would have on Dempster anyway. He's really just a stopper as well so doesn't really add anything once he's denied his player the ball. I would have preferred someone a little more mobile to play along side JC.
I actually think Brown has been one of our most valuable this year, didn't even know Hawkins was playing until he took a mark about 60 out in the last, yes he got 2 goals in the last but one was a joe the goose from the goal square. I know Kennedy got away in the last but he is the best key forward in the comp so that happens unfortunately.

Theres an article in the hun about him not sure how to get it on here. If anyone knows how to do it. Cheers in advance
Eastern Ranges midfielder Adam Cerra looms as top AFL draft pick after strong start to TAC Cup year

IF ADAM Cerra had dropped off AFL recruiters’ radar, he has certainly found his way back on it.

The versatile Eastern Ranges midfielder has started this TAC Cup season in blistering form, averaging 26 touches, seven handball receives, six marks and four tackles a game to quickly grab the attention of AFL talent scouts.

The 17-year-old (188cm, 85kg) played only the final two games of the Ranges’ 2016 season after missing the bulk of the year with a meniscus injury in his right knee.

However, he has wasted no time in reminding recruiters of the talents he showcased as a 15-year-old when he burst on the scene during the Ranges’ finals campaign in 2015.

His performances this year have confirmed his status as a potential top pick in this year’s draft.

While he missed selection in the AIS-AFL Academy, so did Sandringham Dragons duo Andrew McGrath and Tim Taranto and they were the top two picks in last year’s draft. Cerra may well follow suit.

“It is just a start so I hope I hold some consistency throughout the year and keep playing good footy,” Cerra said.

“I was able to get through a full pre-season, which set me up well for the start of the year.”

Eastern Ranges talent manager Len Villani said the club realised from those finals performances in 2015 they had a special talent on their hands.

“A kid, who yeah has a talent, but over and beyond, makes sure he is able to capitalise on that by doing absolutely everything right,” Villani said.

While on the sidelines, rather than dwell on not playing, Cerra, a product of the successful Norwood Football Club, used his time away from the game to work on his deficiencies and added 7kg to his frame.

“He is just class, makes time stand still, can play multiple roles inside and outside, he can go down back and is good overhead,” Villani said.

“They way he has presented himself is a credit to him because it has held him in good stead and his body is robust now and he is strong and confident.

“His footy does the talking for him because he oozes class.”

Personally, if Joey and Roo are staying, instead of pushing out NOK and Holmes or Coughlan, I would look to exit out Armo and Gilbo.
Heresy maybe however I think Armo is cooked and if we bring in a Rockliff type with Stevens, Ross and Steele, Armo is not required.
White can play the Gilbo role and needs to be developed.
Good servants but think we can cover them and keep developing at least NOK even if we flick Holmes.

Unless we are short a list spot, you'd be mad to cut him.

But also depends if Pierce develops this year.

Look i know the bloke is 28 and Pierce is about 5 years younger but from what I'm reading on here he isn't coming along as thought hence why Holmes is getting emergency gigs
Wouldn't surprise me if the big American gets another year, then again God knows what we do sometimes so I'll be just as unsurprised if he gets the boot

Yeah agree on Armo, I just assumed he'd get back to 2015 form with a full pre season this year but just hasn't happened, and I can't see it happening, unfortunately don't think we'll get rid of him for some time

The only issue with Armo is that he's contracted till the end of 2019. He'll cost too much to cut atm and I doubt another club would want him now. Plus, we still have no real midfield depth, so it might be worth keeping him for a year or so anyway.

That being said, I agree with you and Joff, crazy big fall from grace. Looked like a superstar in 2015 but then injuries have completely destroyed him since. Hopefully he finishes the year strongly.

Looking unlikely now but making a godfather/unmatchable offer to Fyfe or Martin and taking two first rounders would be amazingggggg

Are you serious about Brown? Or just forgetting some of the floggings our defence got last year?

How many has he had kicked against him so far?

I reckon our defence looks worse than last year and having two big lump backs stops the gorilla forwards but I think the backline with Dempster and Fisher worked better as we reloaded from the backline. We still need a full team defence but have some zoning and some one on one, It looks ordinary to me- he offers what we had with Delaney. I wish we had had a chance to see Dempster along side Carlisle, It would have looked much more balanced.

Reckon Brown has been terrific. On the weekend he was even matched up on Dangerfield for a few mins in the first quarter when he moved forward for a bit and Brown beat him 3 times in about 5 mins, including matching him for speed on the lead. He's been better than Delaney ever was for us IMO.

Ideally we need Jakey-C offering more intercepting/rebounding, but given that he missed a year of footy and also 9 months of full training after his hip op, we may not see much of that for a while, even until next year.

he's not awful I'm overstating it but he doesn't offer what we need IMO. They way we played last year was much more mobile and attacking from deep guys like Roberton are needed to move the ball out for the two lump backs who are really just stoppers who neutralise the talks but the way footy is played now so much of the scoring comes from the smaller players in the forward line. He has very good passages but it's not really giving us anything better than we had. We need to defend from the midfield still and require all our forwards to double back to sure up the defence still so I don't get what they add other than height.

Brown has been fantastic. He (and the rest of the defense) has been let down by our midfield capitulating in 4th quarters.

Brown and Carlisle don't seem to hold marks and bring the ball to ground better than the opposing forwards. Every one seems happy that we don't have one player kicking 4 or 5 goals but don't mind the leaky backline.

I thought against Collingwood it was the best a backline of ours had performed as a group since probably the Lyin years.

Our biggest issues by far have been the midfield (and getting smashed in the ruck against Melb and Coll) and our terrible kicking for goal. And running out of steam late against the better sides we've played. West Coast had 50 more disposals than us in the last and Geelong a whopping 70 more. Our pressure took a big dive after 1/4 time against Melb and they outscored us by 50+ from that point on.

No idea where you are getting the idea that Brown and Carlisle aren't competing well cause from where I've been sitting they are.

As I've already said, the midfield fadeouts are the issue. No backline could defend the crap we've served up in some 4th quarters this year.

Probably fair but they don't seem to be mobile enough for mine.

The midfield stinks right now for sure but still think we are running out of puff due to extra work by others to cover for a lack of run. I didn't say they don't compete both do but they don't need 2 the same IMO.
