You know if martin leaves via FA we arent gonna get someone else in via free agency. It will affect our comp pick.
Compo pick will be tied to ladder position, so we'll basically get a garbage first round pick for a top 3 player in the competition with 5-7 years of elite football left in him. And Melbourne hot pick 3 for Frawley, people say this comp ain't rigged.

Why do we keep getting contradicting reports on the draft depth this year. I keep hearing after 10 it flattens right out. But then others are saying 10 to 25. Does anyone genuinely know? It's all speculation anyway.
It's too early to say. This time last year Taranto was in no one's top 10 and Brodie was in everyone's top 3.

we will match and then hope the saints trade us the hawks pick as well as others

We have 2 1st rounders we can get inventive. Look at contracted players make them want to come to us. They request a trade. We play ball. Im talking Brown (NM) Lynch (Adel) Moore (coll) Lobbe (GWS) types.

You have more chance of suffering from Blue Waffle

I'm hearing we're right into Tim O'Brien from the Hawks.

Interesting. 192cm 81kg lead up forward but I haven't watched a lot of him.

Former Pick #28 in 2012. Shown some good signs this year, stats wise at least.

Should we look at Dougal Howard? Just kicked a bag in the SANFL and will probably be brought into the team this week

Have the rules changed cause Free Agent compo picks were never tied to ladder position. Had all to do with the player's new contract and whether it ranks them among the top five per cent of AFL wage earners aged 25 and older.

That's how the band of the compensation pick is decided, yes. But the actual pick gained (based on that band) has always been tied to ladder position (hence Frawley being "worth" much more than Buddy for instance)

All of that only depicted what round the compensation pick fell in, the actual pick was then allocated after you pick for that round, so technically, still tied to ladder position.

e.g. based on last years order if:

Brisbane get 1st round compo pick, it's straight after first round pick so = Pick 2
OR
Bulldogs get a 1st round compo pick, it's after their first round pick so = Pick 19

So same round determined on $$ and years etc, but possibly 17 spots difference in the draft due to ladder positions.

Not sure they'll let him go willingly. Looked super impressive late against the Suns.
