At the risk of asking, under your definition of best who do you have Mitch ahead of out of:

B Crouch, Jenkins, M Crouch, Gibbs, Sloane, Seedsman, Talia, Walker, Brown, Betts, Jacobs, Lynch, Laird, Smith, Doedee?

Don't forget he carried a lower back injury for most of the year. Both ROB and Hunter were injured as well. People forget that when bagging him. It really affected his play causing him to struggle most of the season. If fit he bounces back in a big way.
He has a good yr then a bad yr. very cyclical. Next season is gonna be a bounce. Otherwise the wild ungainly flying arms of ROB are going to work.

You had Mitch McGovern ahead of Smith, both Crouches, and two key forwards who have individually kicked almost as many goals in a season as McGovern has in his entire career?

Lol

Yes, I do, and he was, despite the best efforts of some to whitewash the story so that the guy who walked out wasn't really that good anyway.
He certainly wasn't in our best dozen.

We got fair value for Mitch

Brad Crouch is a hobbled husk, Matt Crouch is a solid workman along with Seedsman and Luke Brown, I like Jenkins and what he does but he's not a super forward, Walker has been far too hot and cold for far too many seasons, Smith is demonstrably important to the side and I'd have him pretty close behind McGovern depending on how the knee holds up, Doedee has played one season as a loose third defender, Jacobs was a top 5 ruckman in the league once upon a time but these days not so much.

I'm blown away Dorodo had to pay 2x firsts. Never thought it would happen, especially with GWS cap issues.

Good to see him pay the fair price/overs for once.
Hawks getting Scully for unders freed up the gws cap to allow them to bargain better on their remaining deals.

Dons pain is the Hawks gain.

Walker kicked 50 goals last year, Doedee plays the same role in defence as Gov does forward, only better. Matt Crouch is a BnF winner in a GF year, Smith is an AA HBF in waiting, JJ ****s over Gov, and Luke Brown is one of the games better small defenders

You need to watch some of our games.

So Brad Crouch is a "hobbled husk" when he averages 10.1 games a season, yet McGovern who averages 12 games a season, is not?
Matt Crouch is on the same "solid workman" level as Luke Brown?
Josh Jenkins is worse than McGovern despite averaging more goals per season in the last 5 years than McGovern has at any point?
Taylor Walker is too hot and cold despite averaging more goals last season when he was basically ****ed with injury than McGovern has in any season? Also compared to McGovern who's had 13 goalless games in 3 seasons compared to Walker who's had 4?
Brodie Smith is "demonstrably important" yet behind an even more important McGovern?

I mean McGovern is a decent player but he's never been even close to our best forward, let alone better than some of our core players

McGovern was mostly rated on potential. His ceiling is enormous. He just wasn't able to put it all together for us.

Having said that, our win-loss record with him in, and out, of the side is stark.
His best games have been against also-rans.

He has enormous potential agreed, but he has too many queries IMO to make use of it.

so Macadam is unbridled. Noice.

You always go that way, detract.
Mitch kicked over zones, opened up territory on both sides cos he field kicked 50 on his left. He totally broke weagle web to Atkins on the run.
He’s got a hang time, he’s got a close in tackle, and he’ll make you pay.
You might accumulate it all without deference but this one is gonna hurt and we didn’t squeal too much, wonder why?

All of that isn't incorrect, it just rarely happens.

Mitch wouldnt be in our best dozen, not even close.

I think our midfield's success is more dependent on Brad Crouch returning to his best than Sam Jacobs personally.

Both need to happen. Little point of one happening without the other in my opinion. Also need Matt Crouch back to his 2017 form and at least one of Gibbs or Sloane to get back to their A grade form. Then you also need Tex back to his best. Any one of these things don't fall into place and we won't have a shot.

True, but theres a caveat.

Every year we have someone pop up and play completely above a level they have previously. This year it was Doedee and Milera.

All it takes is for a young midfielder to do the same, or a young forward.

Rare that your first para is correct and you’re second isn’t.:)
He isn't in front of any of the players Scorpus mentioned, therefore isnt in our best dozen. As I've said previously, he played as many minor round games as he did last year and we won less games.

Why do you even bother with the troll? He's demonstrated he's clueless so many times he's not worth the effort.
