Oh Lord have a listen to Sam MacLure on Carlton Radio Show SEN, discussing trades using the word "WE" when discussing Carlton bringing in Papley.
"WE"!
Pi *s off D H . .d!

more and more this goes on seems to be a three way deal looming between Carlton, Sydney and Essendon. Pap to Carlton, Daniher to Swans, Picks to us.

Essendon can have Pick 8 if we get that as PART of the papley trade (if that happens). If not we can have him for nothing next year.

I don't think it will be too much away from that should the whole deal come about.
Dodoro will demand two firsts, but Sydney are not going to do that, regardless of a second coming back.

Do you think something like may work? -

Carlton: IN - Papley OUT - #8

Essendon: IN - #8 and #23 OUT - Daniher

Swans: IN - Daniher OUT - #8 & #23

Essendon may be seen to be the losers here and in particular of that #8 doesn't hit a target they'd bank on.
What else are they to do though? Deny Daniher? That won't end well, given what he's gone through.

I suspect it might be more like 4 and 8 with a bunch of points to come back our way next year.

Gulden is a little gun and they say Campbell is at a similar level.

No. I like Sinclair and he works hard but he's not a tap ruckman's backside at AFL level.

Not with the new rules.

I personally think Naismith ft. McLean would be a good ruck set-up. McLean would really be just a forward who can support in the ruck but at least while he's in there he can bring some good aggression at ground level.

The fact that I would be happy with that will probably mean Essendon fans are not. On a side note, Papley was our best player last season, IMO and has 4 years left on a contract. I Thus I don't think #8 is enough.

I don't know. I just can't see Swans offering up two firsts in the one year, for something that may likely be manufactured the next.

Maybe the #8 and next years first, given the situation you're putting forward with Academy players with some point coming baack but surely not two sub 10 firsts this year.

8 and Sinclair?

It's really starting to look more and more likely that Daniher will be coming to us. "STAR Essendon forward Joe Daniher is taking time away from the club to consider his future......................" I just hope we don't give up too much for him. A first round pick is too much for someone with his history.

Pick 4 is 100% on Daniher they will be no future trading as we need it for Gulden next year.

You have to be realistic there is no other way to get Daniher and keep pick 4.

Then we don't get Daniher.

Pick 4 (will become 6) should be used squarely on a midfielder.

Maybe, as much as I don't want to lose them, we look at trading Reid or Mccartin. Neither are the solution in defence and the forward line is getting a bit cramped if dirty joe daniher turns up on our doorstep slingin his guns.

Been told my a person high up at Geelong this morning it is now common knowledge in the industry Daniher has made the decision to get out and go to the Swans. Its happening and all the usual argy bargy needs to be done now.
Who is there boot cleaner these days?

Reid yes, McCartin no. It's easy to forget as he's already clocked up 30+ games, but he is only 19. By that age, that Mitch Lewis from Hawthorn had only just debuted. McCartin hasn't had the luxury of learning in the NEAFL, he's had to learn on the fly, and taking that into account I think he's done alright. But you can't just get rid of talented, strong key position teenagers, they're too valuable.

Essendon clearly want to get rid of him as he can't get on the pitch. Otherwise they would have made him an offer for at least 5 years on decent money. It seems a logical assumption to make that they don't trust his body.

Daniher's value is hard to figure

If he wants out, has injury concerns, has played 6 games in two years and is a free agent with no compo next year there's only so much Essendon can ask for

good time to buy if he's fit tbh

no doubt before swans even entertain a trade they would put him through a pretty decent medical?
