Yes they do.

"It will be a very interesting trade discussion, particularly after the Sydney medical assessment supports Dodoro's request for Heeney and Blakey as not being unreasonable".

Or

I’d want 4 and 8 and Florent.

They are just tripping on the Hird juice.

no.

yep

hence why a healthy daniher is so key to our success. we built or squad around him.

If he we lose to Swans will be a big hole.
Look at it this way...you'll be cutting your losses with daniher...and have cap space to build your list around cameron instead 😁

I really want Daniher to announce he wants to stay at Essendon. I don't want us anywhere near that trade.

So many red flags, not just with the player himself (200cm+ injury prone key forwards - name me one in the history of the league who was an asset in the second half of his career - Paul Salmon maybe at Hawthorn in the ruck?).

Essendon always hijack the trade period by dragging out every discussion to the last 30 minutes. And I don't have any faith in our football staff that they won't end up handing over a Chris Judd level trade bounty.

There are probably 30 players in the comp that I would be happy to hand pick 4 over for, and Daniher isn't one of them. But Essendon will ask for pick 4 and another 1st round pick. If Daniher ends up getting fit, so what?! - he isn't that good anyway.

In all likelihood, we will not be a contender next year. Yes, there is a chance if all things go well we could be a lot better but the 2 biggest mistakes that supporters make is a) overrating their young talent, and b) assuming everything that went wrong in the previous year won't go wrong again.

We have to deal with plenty of imbalances going the other way, but having access to Heeney, Mills, and Blakey (not to mention the two boys in next years draft) is a massive free kick that should set us up for success in the medium term - but I think the only thing that could ruin our prospects would be impatience.

As much as I love Heeney and Mills, Blakey is the guy that I think all our planning should be done around. Making sure our list is as strong as possible when he hits his prime in a few years time. People saying on here 'how good would it be if we had cripps or martin?' ... well I think we already have one of them, he is just 19.

Potentially losing Papley and Jones only strengthens my view that we may need to take another step back before moving forward.

Take pick 4 to the draft, and any other picks we may get for jones and papley. If we happen to struggle again next year, we could end up with another early pick before the academy kids, and end up with 3 picks inside 15. Then we would be starting to assemble a GWS level of young talent. If Daniher becomes available as a free agent, then we can look at it again next year.

Bit of shiny new toy syndrome here. Heeney’s old news on this board now it seems but he had a much better first season than Blakey did. Not his fault that five years later his coach still doesn’t know what to do with him.

No guarantees Blakey will be better than either of them.

If we get Daniher I'll spew. We don't need any more overpaid cripples in the team, especially after our get out of jail offload of hanners. Sam Reid is enough for us as a bit part forward.

For the first time in a long time we have a high pick in the draft. If we don't use it cause of Daniher I will be absolutely devastated.

And if papley and Jones were to leave, which I hope not, they should be and only be traded like for like. We've been screaming for grunt and smaller running types, we need more, let alone getting rid of the only ones we've got.

A left field scenario that we have been known to do in the past.
We give picks 4 & 23 (2849 points) to GWS in return for their picks 11, 13 & 49 (2828 points).
It moves them up the draft order & gets us 2 mid first round picks which will only improve any Daniher negotiations we'll have with Essendodoro.

A good idea in theory, but sounds like we really want Serong.

I quite like that idea actually as the midfielders we want are not really in the top 10 anyway. It is almost a waste to have pick 4 this year based on players available at that range and what we actually want.

We aren't going to get him as we will have pick 5 after Gold Coast get another pick after pick 1, so that means we will have pick 5 and there is no way that Melbourne or Adelaide would not take Serong before us.

Isnt Serong around 178cm? The two Academy lads are around the same size.

If we did that I like the idea of getting one of Flanders/Robertson with pick 11 and while it is a bit of a stretch reading his bio I would love Cooper Stephens who Twomey describes as a tough brutish inside midfielder who likely would have been a first round pick player had he not broken his leg in April.

Also, Beatson suggested that we were willing to off load pick 4 if we got what we wanted & he also suggested that there are always some good picks later in the draft as they are often hidden there. Then should Papley end up at Carlton for pick 8, I believe we will then have the right picks to land some big guns to our club.

So hypothetically, here goes.
Pick 4 & 23 to GWS for picks 11, 13 & 49.
Papley to Carlton for pick 8 & Marchbank(overs I know because they want Paps)
Pick 13 & Jones to Essendon for Daniher.
Picks 8 & 11 (two first round picks) to Collingwood for Grundy. Throw in Cameron as it was mentioned this morning they have shown an interest in him.

Of course not as straight forward as that but work around those picks with a few tweaks of picks & players.

We won’t be getting both mate

Our cap

I bet Daniher will be really happy to move to Sydney! He will get the best seat in the house to watch our midfield and backline struggle each week because we used our salary cap space on a forward we don't really need and completely ignored our deficiencies! Yay!

Swans fans: omg daniher is elite. Get him in!!

Bomber fans: well ok but we want something in return.

Well to an extent sure, but there is also an expectation that they should be reasonable, given we could hypothetically get him next year for nothing if they try to force us to overpay. Don't think they would even get compensation next year given he's a restricted free agent.

We are literally zero chance of getting Grundy.

A few people have said this and I find this opinion gobsmacking.

It doesn't matter if tall forwards aren't our key problem, if a potentially generational key forward wants to come your way, you absolutely try to make it happen. He's likely the best player available to us and we'd be genuinely moronic to not go for him because we have other problems too. Ever thought that maybe no gun midfielders want to come our way without us being forced to overpay for them?

Or:

Swans fans: well he could be elite but he’s got a terrible injury record and has hardly played for two years. Maybe we’ll have him

Bombers fans: We chose to ignore his injury record. We want 2 first rounders and Heeney
