Speaking of Father sons who turned us down, Who would everyone rather come to Sydney if we had the choice?? Daniher or Dunkley??

Gong is an alias for Fitzgerald, R?Fitzy kicked five goals on debut. Would've been the greatest player of his generation except for injuries. Inspired selection.
Certainly not worth that kind of money. It highlights the issue with the salary cap floor if a club like Gold Coast would be paying him something like that.ellis to the suns apparently
id like him at sydney
though not for the 600k
Suns are paying that much not because of the floor but because they're in dire need of some mid range playersCertainly not worth that kind of money. It highlights the issue with the salary cap floor if a club like Gold Coast would be paying him something like that.

Thought that tweet was likely a joke. Think the TIges might have things on this week and not announcing deals for next year.ellis to the suns apparently

Needs more than one emoji.Words we don’t wish to hear on draft night:
“Swans sprung the first surprise of draft night”
“The speedy half back joined the Swans at pick 5”
We should be forgetting about Daniher (this year at least) and concentrate on keeping Papley and bringing in an mature bodied inside mid, such as Sier.It seems Sier still hasn’t committed to the Pies? Read his thread quickly and Pies supporters seem to think the two year deal is still on the table but he hasn’t signed in...
Perhaps has been offered a longer contract / more opportunity elsewhere?
Could be akin to picking up Kennedy in 2009 if it were us? Similar player at least from a size and role perspective.
You're commenting about our drafting. It's our trading that has everyone so pissed. Completely seperate issue. Why?
What have we done with our first round picks recently?
2013 - Jones
2014 - Heeney
2015 - Mills
2016 - Florent and Hayward
2017 - Ling
2018 - Blakey
Out of those guys only Ling, who has been severely hampered by injury, isn't a clear best 22 player for us.
How do you look at that list of players and say we have a 50/50 chance of doing something stupid?
I'm not targeting you, but there's a bit of a lack of reality about salaries in the AFL.Certainly not worth that kind of money. It highlights the issue with the salary cap floor if a club like Gold Coast would be paying him something like that.

Last year, 150 players in the league earned $500K or more. I am sure that number is significantly higher this year due to salary cap increases. That's 8-9 players per club on average, and you would expect the better clubs like Richmond to have a solid amount of players in this category.
Brandon Ellis was 2nd in 2014 and 7th in 2016 in Richmond's Best and Fairest. Is he in their top 9 best paid players? I expect he's on $500k or very close right now, and asking for $600k is hardly the wildly unrealistic request that it seems to be seen as here
Thank you, thank you very muchElvis has spoken!
Yeah, fancy recruiting a guy with all the talent in the world only for his body to fail him. Maybe the club should’ve done their research and recruited someone resistant to injury, oh they did with Patrick Veszpremi, Josh Willoughby or Lewis Johnston! There can never, ever be any forgiving the club for Ryan Fitzgerald.
But we’ve been the most successful club in finding diamonds in the 3rd and 4th round rough - credit where credit is due.
I was replying to someone saying that we have repeatedly misused first round draft picks. It makes sense that I comment on how we have used them...You're commenting about our drafting. It's our trading that has everyone so pi**ed. Completely seperate issue.
So i've been following this thread, and check it several times a day. It moves pretty fast, so perhaps some people have missed critical updates, and might need a post letting them know where things are at:
Papley - May or may not be going. Some people think he might, and several media figures speculate he might go. But he might not.
Daniher: May or may not leave Essendon. If he does, he might come to Sydney. Some people think he might, and several media figures speculate he might go. But he might not.
Jones - May or may not be going. Some people think he might, and several media figures speculate he might go. But he might not.
Lots of other players from lots of other clubs: May or may not be going. Some people think they might, and several media figures speculate they might go. But they might not.
Harley Bennell: May or may not play for us next season. He may, but he also may not.
Phew! Keep the good info coming!
Crouch will wear number 1
I wouldn't want Brandon Ellis to be in the top 8 players at my club. I feel that would suggest my club was really lacking in top end talent. I stick by my comment he is simply not worth that kind of money.I'm not targeting you, but there's a bit of a lack of reality about salaries in the AFL.

I hope we get more than "rouch if we're giving up Rose. Maybe they could throw in Sloan as well.Crouch will wear number 1
It's a combination of both. They are dire need of midrange players but end up having to pay them top range prices. If makes it harder to break out of the cycle of mediocrity.Suns are paying that much not because of the floor but because they're in dire need of some mid range players
