We can all agree that father/sons that leave their fathers' clubs are the worst

Nick Davis, Josh Kennedy, Rhyce Shaw, Mitch Morton etc
I think you’ll find Nick Davis’ old man actually suited up for the Swans! BTW, Papley’s old man never played for Sydney.

Father - 50%
Mother - 50%

Grand Father (M) - 25%
Grand Mother (M) - 25%
Grand Father (F) - 25%
Grand Mother (M) - 25%

So a traditional Father/Son player 50% of his DNA played for the club, and for Papley with both Grand Fathers playing for the Swans 50% of his DNA played for the Swans.
AFL rule: To qualify as Father/Son, said players father (not grandfather/mother/brother/sister/3rd cousin or dog) must have played a minimum 100 games for club.

wed be lucky to get an early second rounder for him.
Who would pay more than an early second rounder for a small forward?
Dreaming.

Papley is playing a similar role to what Steve Johnson did in his prime. You think clubs wouldn't have given up more than an early second rounder to get him as he was entering his prime?

even Sam Murray. Hanners.
Huh? The Sam Murray trade was fine.

The Hanners trade was good. Dumped $800k that can't get on the park and got their second pick this year back. Take that every day.

Pretty sure Blakey, Mills and Heeney played NEAFL and quite considerably. Haven’t seen the two you’re talking about which is why I asked the question.

I’m fairly sure I’ve posted my awareness of recruiters tracking kids from a young age...you’re telling me nothing there, actually you haven’t really answered my question at all. Thanks for the response though, it is appreciated!

Blakey, Mills and Heeney did play NEAFL however from memory not so much bottom aged. Blakey did play until his final year of under 18 and only a couple of games. Mills I think played two bottom aged games and didn’t much if at all in his final year due to injury. I also can’t recall Heeney playing any bottom aged. He certainly played a number in his final year but I can’t recall if he played when bottom aged, if he did, it wouldn’t be many.

I would expect them to play a fair bit more NEAFL next season in their drafting year.

Draft is seriously overrated if Papley is considered only a second rounder. Towers was drafted in the second round ffs!

My standard is as such:

Is the player considered better than Lachie Weller?

If yes = pick 1
If no = pick 14 + 4th round swap
