We have no coach, no CEO, a List Manager the club has no faith in, a Chairman who appears influenced by the media, a S&C department that needs but doesn't appear to be getting a revamp, several players wanting to leave. I wouldn't worry too much about three players who are minor trade deals if I was you.
It is never as bad or good as it seems.

The rebuild is done?? Mate, you are living in la la land.
If our spine didn't get injured we would have made finals. We have had 4 years of drafting, club is not going to go and draft 3 or 4 1st round players this year no matter how good the WA U18's were as the majority of members and corporate sponsors are not going to let us spend the next 3-4 years still rebuilding. We might draft 1, maybe 2 depending on what happens with Langdon, Blakely and Hill.

Might draft 1? Henry should be nervous right.

I think we will take at least 2 first round picks even if we got Kelly.

Nope. Freo/Fyfe not keen on the lottery. The rebuild is done, we’ll be selling the farm this year.

Could be something like 2 first rounds and a 3rd rounder for Kelly & menagola.

Rebuild done? We've still got to find some wingers, small forwards, ruck, key back & another 2 mids at least. That there is another 2 drafts easily.

We may keep one 1st rounder..grab Robertson maybe.

But as others are alluding too the majority of fans(not on bigfooty), corporate sponsors, the board/President And our dual Brownlow medalist captain all want to play finals asap.

Don’t forget there’s still plenty of youth that haven’t debuted yet.

I’ll bump this post after the trade period as I’m fairly confident we’ll be very aggressive trading out picks for players.

we could trade again, but we hit the KPP trades we needed let season to set the build up. Didn’t mind it.

but yeah, hitting the draft this year would be good

One of my big issues with the past few seasons is that we have the results of a team in a rebuild but not the characteristics, everyone saying Ross should have been allowed to see the rebuild out annoys me as IMO he never committed to one.

Hitting the draft hard this season doesn't really follow the path we have been on, as others have said its going to be very interesting to see which path we go down.

tops off the build nicely but. Add in 2 top 10 picks plus Henry has us in good stead. Be nice to land a big free agent mid too though haha

That's it,no short cuts. We've come this far but in saying that if TK says I'm happy to play at Freo we get it done plain & simple. No farm selling though.

Come this far doing what? In the middle of a rebuild we gave one of our most promising young mid zero time in the midfield and had one draft pick inside 30. Just because we haven't made finals for 4 seasons doesn't automatically mean we have been committed to a rebuild.

If Hill is so desperate to go to Melbourne maybe we could package him up as part of a deal for Kelly? If it is just the destination then he'd be ok with it, if there are other concerns ($$$$) maybe it is Saints or bust.

That's one way of looking at it. Sure it's an overly selective and rigid way, but a way of looking at it nonetheless.

Over the last three offseasons since 2016 there's been a massive turnover of the list. They've brought in 7 first round draft picks, 4 directly drafted.

The team that's rolled out onto the park has consistently been one of the youngest going around.

Also there's more than one way to skin a cat as far as player development goes. In Mundy's first few years he spent on half back, that hardly hampered his ability to be a midfield maestro. It can also help development if you get to build a tank before going into the midfield, so's not to have your development hampered by constant exhaustion.

I think our recruiting strategy over the past few years has been rather pragmatic, I for one am happy with it. The earlier suggestions of Ross not committing to a rebuild seem strange, who says it's his choice? None the less, if you're embarking on a rebuild but have blokes like Hamling, Wilson, Lobb and Hogan sticking their hands up saying I want to come home you get them. Matera was an alright pick up, will admit Colyer was strange but at his trade price, meh.
This year there's definitely not the same amount or quality of players saying they want to come home, it's a perfect opportunity to hit the draft. Would love Kelly but there's no way you shell out more than a first round pick and a few little swaps of later picks to even things out.
Hitting this draft gives us the opportunity to really pick and choose our trade targets over the next few years, could build the core of a very good squad with 3 or 4 top 12 picks

This is an absurd statement. We turned over a full 75% of the list from the end of 2016 to 2018. In what biazaro universe is that not a characteristic of a rebuild?

The board expectation of finals and the expectations from fans that we rebuild are not congruent, that's absolutely true.

We have tried to eat our cake and still have it after. We were required to add new talent but not lose games. That raised the threshold for the young players to qualify for those spots.

That there is no perceived difference between playing on the half back line and the fitness required to play in the middle all game from the supporters is going to throw fuel on that ember. Whether that's accurate or not is irrelevant.
