2019 Membership changes

Has anyone else received a letter in the mail about the 2019 membership changes? Kinda expected it due to the membership growth but looks like I'll be losing my reserved seat which I've had for 10 years in section N9 and be moved towards the other end of the ground. Kinda annoying, but I understand the need for changes.

Option 1 -

Can sit in the same area (roughly) but no reserved seat. Options for guest passes on certain games.

Option 2 -

Keep a reserved seat, but somewhere in section N51-N57

Option 3 -

Buy a 3121 membership at a discounted rate, for 2019 only. Full price in 2020.

-EDIT- I should clarify that this is for premiership circle members on level 2. (The grand final guarantee is still part of this package).

Not sure if there are any changes to other membership packages.

I got the letter. 3121 is being moved closer to Punt Road end, currently we have bays N 10 to N15 and Hassett, Ryder and Miller rooms.
Next year it moves to bays N7 to N13 and Hassett and Ryder rooms.
Miller room where not many people sit is being given to Richmond Executive membership, which is fair I think because they pay a few thousand a year for their membership and don't have their own room.

The club is at full capacity for reserved seating so they need to tweak a few things to accommodate everyone.

As a 3121 member I'm happy with the changes, don't mind a couple of minor changes to accommodate fellow Tigers.

Happened to Premiership Circle (Ponsford) last year. Lost our reserved seat (which I'm still dirty about) but no other changes. Having reserved bays just means I can't rock up as they team runs out anymore.

Price didn't change either. I thoguht it would drop slightly when we lost reserved seats.

IIRC, we didn't get these options either? I'd happily change mine to GA + GF ticket as I don't sit in the section anyway (solo membership and guest passes are too expensive for people I go with).

I am surprised Brendon did not provide a tube of lube with his letter from the club regarding loss of reserved seats.

That is what you get when you allow lawyers to run anything let alone a footy club.

Apparently ours is going up by $225 over the next 2 years.

Not happy at all.

No extra benefits, not sure if we lose the reserved seating or not but that price rise might mean we have to drop our level of membership

What did people expect?

Our premium packages have been priced cheaply compared to other clubs for years as they have tried to build demand for them.

We have waitlists for a number of them now, so no shit prices are going up

I have been Level 2 Olympic since the stand opened and have vowed I will never give up that seat... $225 price rise is bloody steep but N52 is up there with the best seats in the whole ground.

My real conundrum though is I’m also a full MCC member, but none of my family are.... that’s nearly 2k a year on memberships... what do I do?

This was always going to happen as the product got more exclusive. fans wanted more yield for membership, this is the only way.

Thanks for the understanding MR.

I’m an RE member. We originally started in the Miller Room prior to the establishment of 3121, then have been to the Harrison and Olympic Rooms since. Currently we shuttle between Harrison and Olympic.

Me either mate, good little crew we have in this area but I get this feeling that they'll make hay while the sun shines and shaft us...
I can see what’s happening , moving more people to flexible reserved as so many don’t turn up to a lot of games which explains why sell outs are oft ~12k short of stadium capacity . I’ll still be pissed if we re shunted of sure our terrace spot is considered premium though , where are people getting the price rise information from ?

I was N34 last year, now non reserved with choice of about 5 bays I think. Like you say you have to think about it a little. E.g. when we played Geelol and it was wet you had to get there early as everyone pushed to the back rows for cover.
Not really an issue though, had little trouble getting 4 seats in a row.

For the Coll game where we got completely booted out of our seats I ended up in the Olympic stand, forward pocket, just outside the Betty Cuthbert bar. Absolute cracking spot and a ripping bar there. Had to sit dangerously close to McChins and his acolytes, which turned sweet about 10 minutes into Q4.
Would go back there.

Lifelong Richmond friends, we have sat in the same seats in N5 since the stand was built. We have attended almost every MCG home game since we signed up for reserved seats. The same people have been in our area for years. Our kids have grown up watching the Tigers together and we LOVE our seats because we think they are the best seats in the house. Undercover, we don't have to rush in case we miss out.. We love it. Even when in the eras when we were so crap we had the entire row in our section to ourselves. Week after week.

We win a premiership, and the marketing campaign is in full swing to achieve 100,000 members. Of course we sign up more family members to achieve this.

Then today, we receive the eviction notice. I guess that's the club's way of "thanking us" for our loyalty as members for 35 years. A way of "thanking us" for being there when we were crap... Yea - they got their 100,000 members, and these new supporters need to sit somewhere, while we are a powerhouse.

For sure, we will "move on" and watch our beloved Tigers. We will have to sit somewhere else, that's success for you. One thing is for sure, when the club ask for donations for the Fighting Tiger Fund, or raffle tickets etc, I will remind them of their eviction notice and they can START collecting off the NEW members.

It's only a seat. I know... But I LIKED sitting there, and if I was given a CHOICE to pay $270 more to secure that seat, I would have GLADLY done so.

I think it’s time to sponsor a child in a third world country and place things into perspective, this shouldn’t affect you so negatively.

You, just like all of us would have known the growth this club had in them and this was always going to happen with the success we’ve received, the club is above all else and as supporters, what the Gale admin has taught us is to give back to the club and gain joy in going to the footy and seeing an AFL caliber side that’s competitive.

We’ve got this now and we must NEVER take it for granted, we will all have to make sacrifices, but it’s nothjng in comparison to the joy we’ve recieved the last 7-8 years.
