Lonie is a pulse in the team, and if you've played footy and played with guys who really give it all and rev up others, then you know what it's about. When Lonie went down with injury earlier in the season, you could see the collective wind taken out of the sails of his team mates. He is an important cog in the team, and doesn't necessarily need to be a star.
Ive played with blokes like that plenty of times and if they can't produce on the field no amount of reving up/ranting and enthusiasm could stop me or others from eye rolling

Hindsight as we always say is a beautiful thing but would love to know the thought process behind going into this draft with a solitary first and a fourth round pick.

Obviously Hill wouldn’t have been on our radar until mid this year when his management would have shopped him around but I’m scratching my head how we got ourselves in this situation.

Gotta defend my boy Lonedog in here me thinks. He will never be a superstar small fwd but he was tracking really well late last year and prior to his knee this year

I think many of the posters were eating a bit of humble pie. Then he did his knee, didn't come back well and just couldn't get going again. A full preseason and I expect him to pick up from where he was pre injury.

And the "he can't tackle" argument - can someone pls post the gif of him bringing Hurley down like a lion bringing down a gazelle. Cheers
Listen to Gears post season review. Calls out Lonies injury as seriously deflating the team not just because of his on field ability but the energy he brings to the team. The guys a gun small forward gets little respect.

I know what your saying but that is far better than anything that our small forwards did.
I'm hoping Long or Parker can get more of the ball.
That's whole point premo, he's not far better… actually kicks far less goals than Lonie and is an awful kick - the exact thing we don't need.

Who gives a shit about a few more handballs.

Okay, for anyone who struggles with grade 5 maths

Papley clearly ahead, but not by the amount you would think… he's also pretty average at forward pressure.
These stats probably need to compared with entries into forward line, how both perform under pressure, free kicks for and against. Lonie does make sure the slightest contact is maximised, heat maps and distances.

Stats can tell us a lot but they can also hide a lot, can't help but wonder how Dunstan compares with Dusty Martin, my guess is he'd be close but somehow he's a long wy from being Dusty.

I think some forget what a very good season he was having until he got injured.

"being a twin isn't something you can explain, he is literally my other half"
DO IT BEN!
I can feel every hit he gets playing for gold coast and let me tell you, because they're so shit, there's a lot of them. It hurts.

Why are you torturing me Gill.

Sydney is great if you have heaps of cash and s**t if you don't. I don't know how anyone lives in the outer suburbs there.
I stayed out in a Caravan Park out at Emu Plains a few years ago. An hour to the city on one of these:

And it only stopped 4 times. Still takes an hour.

I’d say Steele and Spook lack the Tank and leg speed to be weapons on the outside as well. Steele does have some games where he is used as a link up player and provides a bit extra.

What I think we need is more Gresh in there. He can find a way to get out of congestion and get it forward. As good as Dunstan is at CP’s and tackles, he’s not a game changer in that way, and with Steven Gone we’re very short on those types.

Steele has a huge tank- regularly clocks up 90% time on ground onball all game.

He has limitations but endurance certainly isn't one of them

Not one of Lonie's attempts at tackling have ever stuck. Let alone his attempts at kicking a goal. Please don't try and compare these two as footballers. Do you think any team might consider giving up a first round pick for Lonie?
That tackle on Hurley stuck pretty nicely.
Got a goal as a result IIRC.

Lethlean didn’t say much, he was is SA ostensibly to talk about the Ryder deal.

He also spoke about Bruce, basically he wants a longer deal the bulldogs have tabled one if it doesn’t suit us he’s going nowhere. He sounded like if we thought we could cover his loss and the price was right then he’d be traded.
