I’ve seen him do some cowardly things on the field so no, he doesn’t impress me at all.

In terms of ability he’s done precisely zero in his career to indicate he will be anything other than a decent SANFL player.

If any other club had traded for him everybody here would have doubtless called it comedy gold. We trade for him and suddenly he’s best 22.

No objective analysis at all. Now maybe he comes here and makes it - I’ll be happier than anyone if he does, but right now he’s shown zero. So I really don’t get the hype to be honest.

I wouldn't mind if we were a bunch of diving-play-for-frees-behind-the-play-coward-thugs ... If we win a premiership.

Think of the Hawks. They were never cleanskins in either respect. (Freekickhawthorn)

Our past Captain (Tex) is as concerned about the guy he is about to tackle / bump as any player I can remember. He is the opposite of a thug.

A team of thugs. A team of marshmallows. Don't care.

I don't care about how we are perceived, I just want us to win.

‘ play youth play youth ‘

youth is Himmelberg and is talented but inconsistent and underprepared as usual youth

bigfooty ‘ forget him and give opportunities to the new guy who is 2 years older but done less at AFL level for another club ‘

let’s see how EH goes if he’s AFL fit ... I expect him to go ok

Tex worries about the player he is about to tackle because he has been rubbed out for tackling too hard

Isn't this a bit of an overreaction to what I feel is a fair point being discussed?

Frampton is still 'young' in terms of KPPs. Turning 24 Nov this year as a bottom ager.

SANFL Stats:
In a breakout season for Frampton > 34 goals in 14 games, scoring accuracy 65%, averaging 6.1 marks a game and 37 contested marks taken for the season
Himmelberg > 21 goals in 16 games, scoring accuracy 51%, averaging 5.5 marks a game and only 18 contested marks taken for the season.

I know Berg gets thrown around a bit more, but I really don't think it's that wild to consider Frampton possibly ahead of Himmelberg (based off no absolutely no PS footage at all) at this stage. It's not shiny-toy-itis and no I dont want Frampton in the side to be cracking players unfairly, and all these other excuses that are being blown well out of proportion. Simply based on those SANFL statistics I had Frampton heading into 2020 ahead of Berg to play at FF (again off no PS footage), and also because Tex, Lynch and Fog are all stronger on the lead, we are crying out for a contested marking avenue to goal, as well as a relief ruck option.

I am MORE than happy to be proven wrong on this, and have have absolutely no qualms if Berg is named Round 1 over Billy. Just as long as Berg warrants the selection.

Again, I just assessed State League level stats because both had played way more games there and had Frampton ahead of Berg in my pecking order (for now), nothing else.

And fair enough

I just think Himmelberg is tracking better than people think if he can get AFL fit and fact he is late developer etc

but your Frampton analysis is fair

Why are you flipping a lid ....we haven't even played a PS game yet .....settle pettle
Yeah it’s crucial that we try Mackay at half back in the stronger team in an internal hit out, we’ve never seen him in that role before.

Plus of course that doesn’t mean anything, it’s not like he makes a habit of being picked during his career.

For heavens sake give the youngster a chance .....you've killed Mackay's career, just as it's getting started

Must be why Frampton cost us a half eaten packet of Twisties at the trade table

The other thing with Billy is that that was from his first season as a full-time KPF, instead of a ruck who could pinch-hit as a forward.

Considering that change pushed him from a middling player to someone who was on pace to win the SANFL leading goalkicker comfortably, I'm confident it'll translate. That boy has all of the hallmarks of being a victim of a poor list situation.

I know that internal practice matches can be misleading but it does give a hint about how Nicks rates our squad.

Conservatively there are a minimum of 11 locks for Round One, if they are fit;
Brown, Talia, Doedee, Laird, Sloane, Smith, Brouch, Mrouch, Milera, ROB, Tex.

From the internal trial;
McAsey > Butts and Worrell. (Hartigan injured)
Gibbs and Mackay > Kelly, Sholl, Hamill and McPherson
Poholke, Seedsman, Jones and Davis > Atkins, Keays, McHenry, Wilson and Gollant.
Fogarty and Himmelberg > Frampton and Strachan
Murphy, Lynch, McAdam and Stengle > Gallucci, Crocker, Knight, Shoenberg and O’Connor.

The key surprises to me are

1) The fall of Kelly and the incredible resilience of Bran Nue Mackae

2) Poholke and Davis above Atkins, Keays and McHenry.

3) Murphy, McAdam and Stengle all above Gallucci, Crocker, Keays and Knight.

Perhaps we picked a best 18 for the Crows Team plus six contenders and other contenders were in the Yellow Team so we could test them against our best players (i.e. Kelly, Sholl, Hamill, Atkins etc).

I guess we will find out on Thursday night.

Just on Kelly there were reports he got into a bit of trouble in the off season regarding his behavior when he got drunk and abused staff at the feathers hotel and police were called, he may have an in house suspension.

Gough

I reckon Kelly posts on BF and didnt like Crowy :D

How many preseason news articles has the club put out do you reckon? 10? Not even one per week. Still nothing only a few days out from the first match practice.

Or may the best man win...

Reckon we may see more of Frampton this year, but EH more long term.

Room for both if they perform.

Expect We will see plenty of EH this year, but we need to be patient as still young in KP terms.

What you pay for a player at trade does not necessarily equate to value you get from them.

That is simplistic thinking.
