No. If they match and we don't trade, Adelaide takes on the contract we offered or a better one iirc. There is no PSD option here. We move on and Brad & AFC find some way to work together for the next 5 years.

Incorrect, you cannot be forced to sign a contract. That is coercion and against Contract law. Crouch can refuse to stay, then the Crows can try to trade, if there is no trade Crouch can opt for the ND with a price on his head or the PSD with a price on his head.

I know the club want to hang onto our first so that we aren't handcuffed and we can make a play for Bing but damn, grab Treloar and Crouch and we are seriously in contention.

Apparently the pies are happy to throw in next years first rounder for basically nothing- because they won't be able to use it anyway because they will be taking another daicos kid who will be in pick 1 contention.
So (like the dogs this year) they actually WANT someone to take their first rounder- so at least they get something for it- otherwise it is just going to be wasted on matching an academy or father/son bid.

So a potential treloar deal could look like:

Our pick 15 for treloar and pies future 1st + pies pay 200k of treloars 2021 salary.

Looks great on paper- but the problem is we would need to pay treloar:
2021- 700k
2022 to end 2025- circa 900k

It's those last 4 years on massive coin that has us and every other club saying no.

If the pies were kicking in 100-200k every year for 5 years I'd love for us to pull the trigger... but I don't think that is going to happen unless the pies get truly truly desperate.

It's worth noting also that the pies didn't really ever sign treloar up to 900k a year- what seems to have happened is that they have for years asked treloar to reshuffle his contract to backend his money repeatedly.

Ie- "hey adam, take a paycut this year so we can trade in new guys and win a flag, don't worry- you'll still get every cent, just later in your contract"

They basically kicked the can down the road and now they have created a monster- 900k x 5 that they owe him.

Given that I think it's unlikely the pies will accept paying 100-200k x 5 of adams money... i hope he continues to hold his ground and stay put at the pies.

That will force them to sell off other players they really don't want to lose crazy cheap.

Maybe we can shake a caldwell level talent out of them if treloar won't budge?

Most likely. But we don’t know what list sizes are.

he has offers from other clubs. He was a real soldier in the hub. Im sure the story will come out eventually about his family - would love to keep him.

If he is willing to accept his role as player #26 or #27 on our list, I would rather keep him than Webster or Roberton. If he chooses to move on then it would only be with the well wishes and gratitude of St Kilda people.

I would have no issues bringing in a Marley Williams type for that depth role.

We don't have anything to trade for him. You'd love to know why he hates the Dogs so much that he'd run and WTF the Collingwood older layers hate about Treloar. He must have done something significantly horrendous. Journalists say he was a popular teammate but they swear that the older guys told him not to come back.

There's a bit leaking about about the Dogs lack of discipline being the crux of Dunkley's issues... putting 2 and 2 together you wonder if it's got anything to do with their Gold Coast hub Animal House like party. For a straight laced kid like Dunkley, maybe the sight of short people being thrown off balconies and blokes doing lines off hookers may have been just too much. Wonder if Bevo was up to his neck in it too.

A bird in the hand.

You can't put all your planning on something that may not happen.

Eddie McGuire on MMM this morning addressing the Treloar speculation:
- Basically said it is all speculation but refused to discuss the Treloar thing further (didn't say anything to counter or stop the speculation)
- Insinuated that he has told the footy list manager not to tell Trade Radio anything when interviewed today
- Asked if Pies have cap issues and didn't answer
- Said people just have to wait and see what happens at the end of trade period and he won't talk about it now

It was a pointless, obviously scripted section given that he is a host of the show where he didn't say anything.
Made things worse IMO and sounds to me like the Pies are rooted, he was angry as usual when being asked questions with the club under pressure.

Haha what a clown.

He blasts the flamethrower around in every direction when it involves 17 other clubs- but won't subject his own club to anything hotter than a birthday candle.

The hypocrisy is something to behold.

I've got no problem with him being tight-lipped about the pies- but if he wasn't a piece of crap he would understand that in doing so he should have no right to throw mud and fan the rumour flames of anyone else.

Love the talk that Adel are trying to shop Crouch around for other suiters. 2 issues:

1) Nobody else is willing to come close to the contract we have offered
2) even if they found a club, Brad has to agree to go there and he's committed to us.

He has emotionally checked out of Adel. He ain't going back.

Take the 23 and use it to work up to the Dogs pick

Spot on

Not sure if mentioned but instead of going to AFL house this year to lodge deals they are doing it on Zoom because of course they are.

Have Macrea and Smith been trade yet? So Dunkley doesn't like something like that but will go to Essendon :D :D .You are a funy man W2L

Hes a **** snap.

His stance on stuv proved that

Dodo demanding 8 on it's own for Saad. Blues want something back.

If I'm blues I go to Bris and swap 8 for their 2 x 1sts.

There you go Dodo- have pick 18 now smart arse.

In another year I'd try to swap 15 and an early 2nd to the blues for 8 but not for us this year with what we have on our plate.

I'm just struggling to understand why Dunkley would want to leave a club that he has recently won a flag at and who will be challenging for further flags in the years to come, would choose a club located in an industrial wasteland like Tullamarine. Surely the Dogs can add his bro as a rookie if he's that desperate to play with him.

A pay rise and the chance to be used as a permanent mid which might allow him to become a bonafide star(has the potential) + the dons would have a few *commercial* carrots that would make it enticing.

The wicked irony of that suggested trade to upgrade our first round pick with the Blues, is that we would need a early second round pick. Now which club do we know that is coming into an early second round pick? Someone that we have a successful trading history with, who has something like pick 23 and may not know what to do with it?

Would our Merry Trio of Negotiators ask Adelaide for their compensation pick, with a player swap (nothing to do with Crouch) for us to upgrade our round one pick. Unfortunately that would mean that the Crows would lose Crouch, lose their compensation pick for Crouch, but pick up Webster or Savage etc.

If you think you have seen some dissatisfaction from Crows supporters this would take it to a whole new level. Never to happen, but even spelling it out is pleasing.

You don't know that. He may not be getting that vibe.

Where they train is not really a huge factor. They have access to cars.

We don't yet know what the AFL will be doing to list sizes.
