Heard on sen today that treloar prefers St kilda over the bulldogs.

first of all, of course you do. Who wouldn’t?

but second, if you prefer us, nominate us and put the pressure on your team to Get. The. Deal. Done.
It also said the Saints knew we couldn't get it done, which says to me there is no room in the cap.

Unfortunately no one seems keen to take on players like Dunstan, Webster, McKenzie and Robbo.

No point nominating us if we've told him we can't do it.

I am still backing the team to get him through the door. Players like Treloar do not come up too often, let alone want to come to you, let alone have a third of their salary covered, let one cost less than a first round pick.

Lethers and Gags will get it done between 6-7PM tomorrow.

The only hurdle at this stage may be finding a home for at least two of Dunstan / Lonie / Webster.

hmmmm maybe we’re shopping the wrong players....

Agreed, it seems like we can't get it done. I also think it's unlikely that Treloar will nominate any club publicly. Any club that is interested in him would know that their position is strongest when it appears they're doing Collingwood a favour by taking him and having it all play out in private. Whether it's the Dogs/Hawks/whoever, I reckon it'll get to the last hour on Thursday and Collingwood will just have to accept the offer from whoever Treloar wants to go to.

Don't know if Carlisle, Hanners and Crouch are choir boys.

Of course they are, they've clearly been taught correct technique for singing - inhale through the nose, use the diaphragm to push out through the mouth.......... ;)

Higgins is by no means a perfect player, he has a lot of trouble following a game plan, and this was told directly to me by a Tigers assistant coach.
But what he does have is the intangibles, natural football ability and an infectious personality that will make being at the club a fun time.
Ratts believes he can get the most out of Higgins, he wants him as a small forward with Butler and eventually have bursts through the midfield.
There won’t be a team in the league next year who won’t have nightmares about Higgins/Gresham/Billings/Steele rotating through the forward 50.
The kid certainly isn’t elite at this stage but he will make us a stronger team. I really like the addition.

Interesting if we get Higgins done early. Just makes me think we still have plans...

Maybe we could trade the D-Train????

Its not just room in the cap now. Its all the planning for the next 5 years.
We have players like Coffield , Clark, King, and Marshall we will need to take good care of.

fu** it I called Crouch. I’m calling this now. Treloar will be a Saint.

I’m not ITK. Just going with my gut. I’ve got nothing to lose coz I already have zero credibility. When this comes off I will be the greatest poster since Flamer.

The bulldogs can’t keep Dunkley and get treloar. Essendon will hold that deal up and we will pounce late with pick 17 for next years first (meaning we can still use a first next year and be cool) and treloar. Maybe some token late picks and Collingwood chipping in 150-200k a year.

Skiddies told us weeks ago this was happening and that was before this Treloar sh*t even came out in public.

This is happening.

Im in the same boat.

The longer it drags out the more I think we jump in.

Treloar + Pies 2021 1st
for
17 + 400 useless late picks (Points for Nick Daicos)

I didn’t say anything about not recruiting good people nor do I see anything other than rumours that suggest Stephenson is lazy or disruptive.

What I’m saying is that if you rule a line through every kid who has stepped out of line or caused a few problems you’ll miss a lot of elite alpha talent. Say hello to plugger, the duck, dusty, Ablett and the list goes on and on.
But we haven't done that otherwise we wouldn't have picked up Crouch. And if we have ruled out a player because of their attitude or actions off the field and gone with the "choir boy" instead, then we likely had a very good reason for doing so.

For every players with significant off field issues who goes on to become a superstar, there are 10 who do nothing with their careers except make headlines and cause disruption within the club.

We are shopping those players because none are best 22 and are on best 22 money.
I understand that but what if we were to try and trade someone with a little more value. I don’t want to mention his name but a certain dark lord who must not be named comes to mind.

There is a little thing called the Salary cap.

It means you can no longer "Buy a premiership "
That's a good thing , because in an open market the Saints would not be the ones in a position to do it.
Yes its trade week. Yes its exciting to think we should snatch up every available half decent player.
But by draft time everyone who is wanting "more trade , more trade " will be crying because we don't have a single draft pick.

When you lure players with money, or take a player as a Salary dump, you pay too much.
The more you do it the more it gets out of control until you end up going full Collingwood.

Its great we got Crouch and Higgins, both will fit our team nicely.
But shit i'm also glad we didn't trade away the picks for Clark or Coffield for some 26 year old who would be 29 by now.

From hearing people talk last preseason, a big part of our game plans is using your natural instincts so Higgins is a great fit for that then.

I still wouldn't want to be giving up too much for him or do anything involving our first rounder but it sounds like he will be a good fit up forward for us.

If Treloar wants to come to the Saints why doesn't he nominate us?

Treloar's manager may have expressed to the Saints that he wants to go there. But the Saints may have said:
- we have no financial space or trade capability to get him there and cant see how we would make it happen under the terms currently offered
- we have said we are interested but that Collingwood would need to dramatically alter their terms and financial assistance to make this happen

What this is then saying to Treloar and his manager is that either Collingwood, or him, or a combination of both, need to take some pain in order for him to leave the Pies and join his preferred club of St Kilda. All of the above could be a softening up process by the Saints merry trio of negotiators, where you are getting both Treloar and the Pies used to the notion that to make this happen there will be pain for one, or both of them. If Treloar takes a small loss per year, eg $50k, that puts enormous pressure on Collingwood to raise the financial assistance to fit within Saints budget (or what we say our budget is).

If Treloar nominates us, all of these details have been accepted and sorted out and this is the final public display. What an interesting two days we have ahead of us.
