Lethers talking about Steele: "We had an All-Australian this year take less money than he probably would have liked but he did the right thing by the club".

Whack. Everyone out of contract now is on notice.

Satan is the best thing to happen to our club.

Yeah, I noticed that too - to be fair though Steele only signed up for 2 years, if he keeps performing at this level then his next contract will be a monster.

He may never have a year like that again too though.

It was a pretty noble thing not to try and fully cash in when his price was so high.

Shows great leadership (c)

Winning the next two Brownlows and premierships will help.

I can't wait to go scrolling through the Pies forums when the dust settles on all of this.

Holy ****, what an implosion...

Stephenson is a massive steal for North (especially at that price) but geez, he's not gonna have much around him inside that forward 50...

So has Collingwood balanced their books yet? If they're still desperate to lose Treloar we can pick him up today, depending on the share of his salary they're happy to keep paying.

If it's the bulldogs instead, so be it. Overall, we've done well this time.

Pies though...

Another reason why he should be captain. It's not all about him, he wants the club to succeed.

Pies board absolutely radioactive at the moment and you can understand why. In amongst a slew of 'firsts', 2020 has also made me feel empathy and even a twinge of sympathy for Pies fans. Get this year over right now.
Have a look at the age profile of the Collingwood players: they should be shedding their older players and bringing in youth, instead they have sabotaged their own ability to rebuild their club list. Clearly the cap pressure was beyond toxic and dangerously close to the AFL having to step in and force the cuts.

I'm sure they'll be shopping Treloar until the minute the trade window closes; it's at the point where it'd be worse if he stays regardless of the cap. Imagine having your employer disparage you in this way, question your mental health and ability to commit to your job etc. And then you have to walk back in the door and deal with all those same people. Plus Treloar will be asked about it all next year by the media if he stays.

They were probably praying Dunkley goes to Bombers so they could slide him off to the Dogs, but Dodo is being Dodo about things.

Pies board makes for some good reading...some nek level melting. Half the lot don't even seem to have the basic awareness of massive cap issues driving a firesale.

Exhibit A: To trade Jaidyn for basically nothing there surely has to be more to this. But I doubt we will ever hear the real reason why we traded him.

Exhibit B: What the actual? Who knows what the real reasons behind this trade were, hope we find out one day.

Exhibit C: As an outsider i am staggered by this trade, I rate Stephenson highly, and surely he was worth more than what you got ?????

Kinda makes you question the Harry Lamumba (sp) claims again eh?

I really don’t want the bulldogs to get treloar. I’m afraid of him in that midfield.
If they keep Dunkley as well.... yikes.

Kelly maybe ...think more likely young tall key position players & ruck if not addressed this draft.
Clubs will be permitted to select just one player in December’s National Draft, down from three.
It relates to expected list cuts, which are due to be made official in the coming days.

This is big news to players already on club lists

Interesting news from the draft feed on the AFL site...

AFL MAKES CHANGE TO DRAFT RULES - 4:35pm
Tom Morris reports...

Clubs will be permitted to select just one player in December’s National Draft, down from three.
The rule change was communicated to clubs on Thursday, foxfooty.com.au understands.

It relates to expected list cuts, which are due to be made official in the coming days.

Clubs will also be allowed to take in more draft picks than they have list spots as well this year.

In previous years, AFL clubs were capped on the amount of selections they could take into the draft, based on available list spots.
