The Freeman trade wasn't a success though, because his hamstring issues made him lose his key asset; speed. My concern for Treloar is on the same lines. While the hamstring issues haven't been as severe, we'd also be paying more for him.

I'm not saying I wouldn't want him if he wanted to come, but that I'm unsure of his longevity.
Think Treloar and Freeman case is completely different I'm just giving an example of bringing a player with soft tissue injuries back from nowhere to play at AFL level. Treloar is not that player though, he has played consistently year on year for half a dozen years. Can't see any issue with it. Collingwood don't want him out because of his injury history they want him out because of their cap situation. If they weren't so stuffed with money he would be a required player.

Crouch says he is fully committed to St.Kilda and does not want Adelaide to match.

Afterwards, Ricciuto says Crouch may not have played his last game at Adelaide and there's a possibility he stays.

Crouch then says he needs a fresh start and change of environment.

Really can't believe the stand that club is taking. They are a mess the Crows. Would be disgraceful if they matched after Brad's comments today.
I can understand they are upset - he is there best mid imo and not even getting a first round selection for him is going to hurt.
But in saying that if they want him , match and get on with it so we can get on with our Heeney dealings.

No it's not. If we get rid of some cap cloggers we are well within our means to bring both in. We have space, why not use it? Can always restructure if need be, and the last half decade of our cap situation has actually been very very good. We manage it well.
Is he that player though?

Agree 100%. Ego getting in the way of his role.

They have a big culture problem at the club. Their captain coming out bagging players for leaving after the 2017 GF and camp.

That terrible camp that humiliated players and destroyed the group bond.

The old boys club of Jamison. Burton and Ricuitto ruining the joint by having too much power

Remember Ricuitto coming out earlier this year bagging all the players that had left, made a complete fool of himself.

When Blight went there cleaned out the old boys Jarman, the captain with a head like a dropped pie, and others and a year of so later they were premiers.

They need to do that now.

Wonder what vitriol will be hurled at Crouch now he has left?

Cowboy amateur club run by old boy boof heads. Now wonder they came last.

This is the issue with them. Choose a path and stick to it. I mean are they sincere when they say they are rebuilding? Because if they are genuinely rebuilding then a player like Crouch is not part of their next tilt. So either move him on and take the pick or keep a player that is going to take the spot of a player you could've played in his position that could be part of their rebuild.

I know we stuffed our rebuild in 2013 but we choose a path and stuck to it. Clear out the players that won't be part of the next run and hit the draft and trade hard. All the Crows are doing is pissing about for the sake of it and making a player they apparently want to keep (in Crouch) increasingly frustrated in the process.

This should be done once trade opens 9am tomorrow. Crows should just get on with it they've got more problems than this deal.

Disagree. They’ve got to do what they think is best for the club. They have every right to match the offer and force a trade if that works out to be favorable. If St Kilda was in their position I’d be melting down

Half their list gone in 3 years. Not just deadwood either, most of it is players requesting to leave. Looks toxic from the outside. They need a complete club rebuild not just list.

So you reckon we can get in trelor at 4 years at 900 and 1 at say 600 and get bing and have room to up the coin of the blokes who step up in the next 3 years.
??

Damn it then
Im in
Offer them next years second
17 to the draft
50 odd for higgens

If it is $900K over 5 years then it would end up being $4.5M total.
Not sure whether we would have the space to do it but if we could pay him 1.5M next year. Get CFC to pay 250k of it.
That would get it down to $3M over 4 - $750k per year.
Could even get $600K by the end. Much more manageable if we can clear some of it early.

Keep a player who doesn't want to be there is not a good list management strategy.

Yep. Let's get Treloar in and later on we can restructure his deal.

What could go wrong?? 😉😉

Im not bagging him , i just think Higgins is an upgrade and you cant keep them all , God if i fell in love with every racehorse i have owned there would be 30 of the bastards in the paddock ( If i had a paddock )

Perhaps we could shoot players when they break down too. ;) They are humans, a bit of civil discourse never goes astray.

Right, but the example isn't great because for all intents and purposes Freeman failed to effectively return from soft tissue injury, otherwise he would have played more than a single game.

Treloar has played consistently, but the trend is that his hamstring issues have intensified as he has aged. Treloar is highly reliant on speed to be effective - his ball use is some of the worst in the AFL. Just from watching him this year, while he has found the ball, he didn't look to be as zippy. I noticed many Pies posters say the same thing. If we took on a contract of that size, we couldn't just consider his ability and durability next year, but in four years, which I'm not optimistic about.

Yes and have also said they are completely different players the point I am making is we have great medicos.

End of the day Treloar is an AA calibre player and makes our midfield better. He is quality.

If he lost his speed then we’d just have to settle for his 13 contested possssions a game.

But those same medicos underestimated the hamstring issues of both Freeman AND Hannebery. We can't solely defer to their wisdom because it's clear they make mistakes. Treloar clearly makes our midfield better, my concern is for the length of the contract and his projected durability.

I'm not so much worried by Treloar's injury history. My issue is with his disposal. he is a quality ball winner, but is a terrible ball user. Overall a valuable asset, but I can't think of anyone else in the history of the game earning $900k per year, or thereabouts, and not being a quality finisher. Happy to hear others opinions on this, as I don't think this is getting discussed enough when contemplating Treloar.

did they promote collective minds to list management?

What the fu** is a hook turn???
Do they have them in Mt Isa???
Why has my profile changed to say I’m from Heidelberg where the fu** is that?!!!

Do they even have roads in the Isa?

There's a long history of these type of contracts absolutely killing clubs across a number of sporting codes. 5 years at $900k is utter poison and should not even be entertained.

Haven't heard 900?
