Necessary sacrifice. He has huge talent but I seriously doubt his ability to nail down a spot in our side. It's a pity because he was a mad Dogs fan growing up. Can see him carving out a decent career elsewhere, and would wish him the best if/when he leaves.
Appreciate the info.

I think he suits the inside role, but only from an offensive aspect. You want the ball in his hands in congestion, but he doesn't do enough when it's turned over. For us, maybe if we only had 2 of Macrae, Libba, Dunkley and Bont in the middle then there'd be a role for him, but with these guys in the side we need to prioritize pace (hence why we recruited Treloar, and drafted Smith and Garcia). I couldn't comment on whether the Swans mids are the right mix to accommodate Lipinski tbh
We have 3 big weaknesses:
1. Undersized defence
2. Thin ruck stocks
3. Poor inside midfield

Sounds like Lipinski can improve number 3

Lipinski would take game time off basically all our young mids, and deservedly. Imo would be a beautiful compliment to our midfield, jusy have to watch the reserves match to be impressed.

Regarding defensive pressure, I imagine we'll do our due diligence in trading for him. We would know who we're getting.

seems like we'd be spending money on a depth player ... i'd very much hope we don't bother ...

We already have a very slow mid in jpk, who try as he might can only jog both ways and applies zip pressure outside the drop zone. He has already been extended one year.

The last thing we need is another treacle slow mid who we would prolly play in the back pocket.

If I'm reading it correctly, Lipinski doesn't have an inside game of tackling or defensive pressure, nor does he have enough speed to be useful as an outside mid. At best we'd need someone to get the ball and give it to Lipinski, who would need to give it off to someone else to run free. There are times where he might be useful, but without our batch of mids, it sounds like he'd be a liability. Personally I'm thinking it would be like a taller Lloyd playing in the midfield with an ankle issue. That's probably underrating Lipinski, but doesn't sound like someone we need.

Parker, Mills, Hewett, Rowbottom, Warner are our inside mids for the next 2-3 years and beyond (Parker aside). Given Warner has some speed, we could instead draft or trade in an actual inside mid who can assist Mills, Hewett etc with the contested stuff. Or we see Campbell, Gulden, Jmac, Florent etc as enough outside players (or supplement them), to keep Warner on the inside (my preference).

Lipinski would be the first to the ball and dishing it off to Mills and co. Pretty much a Kennedy replacement but a better kick

The issue is what's his role next year, JPK is still here

I can't say I know much about Lipinski, but from the Dogs fan posting, he doesn't have a contested/pressure game, which is Kennedy's whole thing. So I don't know how he could be a Kennedy replacement. There's also no comparison to be made on size and strength.

He has a contested game, just no speed or pressure. Issue is the no pressure, besides that I would want him winning the footy for us

Let's be honest, if there's any coach in the league that can bring out defensive pressure it's Longmire.
