I found it beautiful. The soft and yet very real transition to reality.

I was told by my English teacher (back in High School) that my opinions on the poems we were doing in class were and I quote "interesting". I just assume she meant groundbreaking and amazing but she didn't want to make the rest of the class feel bad.

SWAN’S CONTRACT TALKS SET TO RAMP UP

The manager of defender Jordan Dawson says there’ve been inquiries from rival club’s about his client’s footy future, but has suggested talks on a new Swans deal should accelerate over the coming weeks.

Dawson is in career-best form, averaging 22.1 disposals from all 16 games the Swans have played so far in 2021.

After launching his AFL career as a defender, Dawson has played up the ground in the past two weeks with great effect, booting two goals from 25 disposals against West Coast before his eye-catching three-goal, 26-disposal display in his club’s stunning win over the Bulldogs.

Reports earlier this year suggested Adelaide had the salary cap space to chase the South Australian product “pretty aggressively”.

Dawson’s manager, TLA’s Michael Doughty, told The Age there “has been rival interest” in his client, but added Dawson’s focus was on playing his best footy “before ramping up talks with the Swans in the next few weeks”.
Dawson last week moved to allay any concerns Sydney supporters had about his footy future, declaring: “I don’t think Sydney fans should be nervous at all.”
The Robe product was drafted out of Sturt by the Swans with Pick 56 in the 2015 draft.

RIVAL CLUBS KEEPING TABS ON FRINGE DOG

A move to a rival club “appears on the cards” for Bulldogs midfielder Patrick Lipinski, reports the Herald Sun.

Lipinski has had extended stints in the Bulldogs’ AFL side over the past four seasons among a few injury setbacks, but has played just 10 AFL games this season and started as the sub three times.

The 22-year-old has been demoted to the Dogs’ VFL side for four games — and starred every time, averaging 34 disposals. He was particularly eye-catching against the Swans’ VFL side on the weekend, kicking one goal from 36 disposals and seven clearances.

The Herald Sun reported Lipinski “continues to attract strong interest” from other teams.

Sydney previously has been heavily linked to Lipinski, particularly with Simon Dalrymple — the man that drafted Lipinski with Pick 28 in the 2016 national draft when he was at the Western Bulldogs — now being the club’s national recruiting manager.

A high-disposal midfielder with the ability to push forward and hit the scoreboard, Lipinski is a lifelong Western Bulldogs supporter. But rival clubs will almost certainly be in a better position to offer him more opportunity at senior level.

Leaving the Bulldogs to seek opportunity. How does he get that opportunity at Sydney?

Warner and Rowbottom to return and there is currently only 1 player that would make way.

Won't matter though. As soon as a Vic team gets seriously interested that'll be his preferred option.

He replaces Kennedy

But Kennedy is going around again next year. Assuming Parker signs on for a couple more and Hewitt stays, you've got 1 spot for Rowbottom, Warner and potentially Lipinksi from the starting 22 on the weekend with Bell making way.

Or do they let Hewitt go and JPK barely plays next year then bring in Lipinksi and all 3 can get in?

Are Hewett and Lipinksi similar players? If so, I'd only bring in Lipinski if he's cheaper and we get good trade value from Hewett. I love JPK but really wish he didn't sign on for next year. I get ROK vibes from it.

My understanding of Lipinski:
-Good mark for his height
-Quick hands, good handballer
-Bulldogs fans state he has no defensive pressure
-Has some connection with Bont, instructed to build his playing style off of Bont and Cripps as a junior

Interesting that he is an accumulator. Leaving other players aside, I wonder how he would fit the game plan.

To add to this:
-Great movement in traffic offensively - Dogs fans used to call him Bont-lite
-Beautiful kick, especially delivering inside 50
-Among the slowest players in the AFL

If he's slow and provides no pressure he'd struggle to fit into many teams.

It's been the biggest struggle at the Dogs. I think he'd fit in at the Eagles or Hawks where pressure and pace aren't a necessity for someone like him. His overhead marking and ball use would be an asset in those systems. Personally I don't think he's a good fit for the Swans, but Dalrymple must see something in him still if you're chasing him (if it's even true)

Lipinski would take game time off basically all our young mids, and deservedly. Imo would be a beautiful compliment to our midfield, jusy have to watch the reserves match to be impressed.

Regarding defensive pressure, I imagine we'll do our due diligence in trading for him. We would know who we're getting.

If he can play inside he'd be a good fit. Otherwise he would struggle. We don't lack mid-fwd types but could use another strong kicker in the middle.

Would you be upset to lose him, or is it a necessary sacrifice for your team?

I think he suits the inside role, but only from an offensive aspect. You want the ball in his hands in congestion, but he doesn't do enough when it's turned over. For us, maybe if we only had 2 of Macrae, Libba, Dunkley and Bont in the middle then there'd be a role for him, but with these guys in the side we need to prioritize pace (hence why we recruited Treloar, and drafted Smith and Garcia). I couldn't comment on whether the Swans mids are the right mix to accommodate Lipinski tbh

Necessary sacrifice. He has huge talent but I seriously doubt his ability to nail down a spot in our side. It's a pity because he was a mad Dogs fan growing up. Can see him carving out a decent career elsewhere, and would wish him the best if/when he leaves.
