If we could choose between Jeremy Sharp and Jordan Clark, who would we choose? Sharp would be cheap and has really great skills but Clark has speed.

Hard to know, Neither have been able to hold their spot in an AFL team yet. I liked Clark as a hbf but Sharp is a really silky mover on the wing with a good long kick.

Freo’s answer to everything, just develop our own with the draft.
Both would have to be cheap.
Let them make the first move.
Adding more down hill skiers Is that really the answer?
Ever since we moved away from
the hard edged players to supposed skills, we have stalled.

You need both.

Not sure Clark has shown much as a winger. Recruiting a HBF to play him on the wing worries me.

Sharp I could deal with for a late future pick tbh. Clark would probably still cost a second rounder and if that is the case we can tell Geelong to go **** themselves.

A LOT of those touches are cheap marks in the backline. Gold Coast chip it around the most of any side.
Not sure what your point is? Ellis would be best 22 at every team in the comp.

This is Sharps second season and you expect him to be ahead of Ellis? His VFL numbers go good. Not against using a late pick on him. It's all it'd cost.

Purely that the number of touches, especially for defenders or defensive wingers, doesn't tell you much about how well they played.

Jack Ziebell is averaging 29 touches a game this year and would struggle to get a game in 17 teams.

I reckon the Western Bulldogs would look at Hamling. They need a key defender. We should be targeting Sam Taylor from GWS. Kids a gun.

I’d keep only one of Pearce / Hamling heading into 2022. Logue is a 3rd / 4th tall or small defender. I thought he did a good job on Cameron once the switch came. He should be taking Conca’s role, I feel like he needs to play tight on an opponent, he doesn’t read the play or flight of the ball very well.

I've been happily in the dont get Cripps bucket but we his form decrease, there is a fair chance he'd cost nothing but salary now. Fudge the contract like Brisbane did with Daniher (something like 2 years guaranteed at 850k with a 2 year player option) and he'll get Carlton a top 5/6 pick which is about all he's worth now.

That would have to tempt even the most stringent of the "No-Cripps" group

No way you'd pay Cripps 850k with what he is dishing up. He's either past it (doubt it) or broken and if that's the case, with what confidence do you think he'll get anywhere near his best with us?

Is it possible that Carlton are playing Cripps in a tweaked role that better suits the development of players that will be there the following year in his place?
I don't think so, Cripps just looks about 70% to me. The game against us and the first half against the Tigers are probably the only time he looked fully fit.

Conspiracy time:
I've heard from some people who claim to be in the know that Cripps to WCE has been a done deal for quite some time, now what if Carlton are doing to WCE what WC did to them re-Judd and his groins? Playing him into the ground because he is leaving.

I'd pay him that for two years, I'd pay whatever gets the blues band 1 compo, then I'd have his extension option at like 550/600 so he's getting 700k on average. Even so, I'd bring Carlton in for 50-100k more than he's worth if it means no draft capital.

Well part of me thinks that hilarious and another part thinks that's seriously poor because Cripps is a human being.

I can believe he is going to WC, but not that a modern day team would do that to a player.

I wouldn't. Reckon you'd have to cough up at least 2million for band 1 and we are not in the position to take that risk based on what they say about our cap.

He could come good and it would be an absolute bargain or it could hilariously blow up in our face. I know which case history suggests is more likely.

I'm basing the numbers on what I remember hearing about Brisbane getting Daniher, dont think it would cost 2m to do it. The band compensation is based purely on the guaranteed payments, options wouldnt be taken into account. Your not wrong about the history though...

You won't want to know what Lachie Neale played through while he was with us then.

I'm not across it (obviously) but I thought Daniher's was worth like 2m. Either way, I just don't see it for a noticeably beat up, what will be 27 year old in the only part of the ground we have multiple, confirmed young players of high quality.

I believe they play under duress, just not out of spite.
