I recall Phil Walsh wanted more photos of teams up on the walls, rather than individual players, as it was all about 'team' success, not individual success.
Think this is correct

Agreed, we should be putting out articles on how cooked Tex is and he really has no chance of being much more than a decoy that no one take seriously

Then drop him half way through the season and pretend he never really existed !
Tex has 100% the club at heart .....is 100% the consumate Team Man .....but he was never able to lead the club on the field, his own faubles often reflecting our weak resolve as a team

Saw it mention on Twitter the AFL thinking of introducing a "concussion sub" to games now, which means teams will have to travel with 23, so we'll potentially have a young players missing games for that.

Also talk players and coaches want the interchange restrictions raised from 75 as well.

Ahhhh the good old days ......history revisited, and all those fond memories .....the burning pitchforks of the public and club indignation

Wasn't he captain in the year we made the GF?
And also by self admission ...the man who choked the most ....that's not leadership, a leader should be the strongest mentally and help other overcome their fears ......not the other way around

I'd argue that he was captain in a side that made 2 x semi finals then a grand final. To get a side to that point when unlike virtually every other side in the comp we had not had any high draft picks in the side and used the bargain basement bin to supplement our side, he did a super job to haul the team to where it got. Was he a Leigh Matthews - certainly no, but he did a good job with what we had in my eyes

Look, I understand .....but on that fateful day, there was a certain RICH player with such a strong Mental Strength, that single handedly tore us apart

It was the strength of self belief, that saw a Darren Jarman win us a Grand Final single handedly ....when the seeds of doubt had been planted within the team

Teams feed off their leaders ..... Tex still carries those mental scars .....he tries too hard on field now, his way of overcoming those mental demons

I wouldn't say he choked the most either, he played a half decent game.

I think both things can be true at the same time. Yes on the biggest day he did have a mare but also he hauled us to that day and previously to semi finals with a team that was not playing above itself as that is not possible, but a team that was light on real star quality (Betts aside) and extracted the best from itself. If he was the captain of that Richmond team instead of the crows, maybe he would be sitting here with 3 premiership medals?. I suppose the point I make is that you can only work with what you have got

Nothing wrong with Tex wanting to play this year. It's up to the selectors as to whether or not he plays.
Club has already showed a renewed resiliance, by playing Lynch in the SANFL .....I'm confident the tough calls will be made

Then Mackay can be brought in .... 300th on the radar

There’s a smell of newness this year though. I think Nick will pick the best team to advance us forward. I don’t think he’s going to be Mr Nice Guy this year, and out of form players will likely pack some bags. The delisting of Galluci and Stengle (likely) is a sign we’re moving onto a more ruthless direction. Which is probably what we need at this point in time.

Let's see the actions match the rhetoric first before we get too carried away..

I don't think he ever has been ......he has IMO a ruthlessness that is required

As I saw an old mentor of mine ....."he was so nice, that after he axed you .....you'd thank him"

Nicks at this stage of his career, has a good handle on the line between player relationship & tough calls ...career defining calls

Faubles? Foibles? Four balls? Fur balls?

The article pushed by the club recently was along the lines of, 'who will stand up to help Tex?'. So he's penned in all year as stated by me as early as last season.
You could be right but not necessarily

From memory Nicks pushed the same line with Gibbs last year? Talked up his pre season and round one.

Nicks will have Tex’s back 100 percent right until the moment he’s dropped never to return.

Hard to not see Tex selected for the first month at least. Especially if Lynch ends up on the outer, which is certainly possible with Thilthorpe.

Ruthless wouldve been ****ing Mookay off last year.. actually no, that wouldnt have been ruthless.. that wouldve been smart.

Now, instead, we have Nicks in the presser after last weekends loss to the powa apparently referring to Mookay as a possible inclusion into the AFL side for “added experience”..

If they bring Mookay back in for even 1 game this season.. I hope we get absolutely flogged.
