You try telling Tex he's not playing... :$
Right at the moment, based on pre-season form, Tex is our best performing tall forward - and it's daylight, followed by more daylight, second. There is absolutely no reason for anyone to be telling Tex that he's not playing if A - he continues to perform as he did in the pre-season, and B - our other tall forwards continue to be complete and utter shite.

** Tilthorpe gets a pass from the "complete and utter shite" comment, given that he's a 1st year player.

Himmelberg couldn't have done much more in the twos. I don't really like him but Frampton also played well in game 1. Wouldn't say they've been that bad. TT also one of our best in game 1 of the reserves.

What's complete and utter shite is everything that leads up to our forwards being near the ball.

There’s a smell of newness this year though. I think Nick will pick the best team to advance us forward. I don’t think he’s going to be Mr Nice Guy this year, and out of form players will likely pack some bags. The delisting of Galluci and Stengle (likely) is a sign we’re moving onto a more ruthless direction. Which is probably what we need at this point in time.
I’ll be a lot happier when we start to play some of our young mids, in the middle...

Some very confused people on here regarding what leadership is.

I think nearly everyone understands what leadership is. The argument would be about whether people recognise good, bad or indifferent leadership. I'm sure like all before him, Sloane is an outstanding leader and is awesome behind the scenes. I mean, our results and the totally cohesive nature of the playing group under his stewardship is beyond any doubt whatsoever.

Can someone show how me how I can just block a poster when he's talking about a particular subject?

Any word on yesterday's intra club match?
The club loves to keep its fans in the dark, so are there any journos or construction workers onsite able to shed some light?

I am definitely not an AFC sycophant.
An argument could also be made that having Luke Hodge in his prime captain this list, with its mismanaged, inexperienced game played profile, would struggle to achieve better results.
We are either veterans or kids, we are bereft of decent, mid career players (50-200 games).

That's now. Sloane did take over in 2019 however, and that's right at the end of the turbulent period where we imploded off field (and eventually on) after that grand final loss.

I'd be very comfortable in accepting any argument that how we handled those years has caused our situation now (with arguments against drafting and the like being rather irrelevant). Maybe a Luke Hodge prevents us from getting to the point where the only path forwards is a wholesale clearout of everyone at the club. Sloane didn't though I do have some sympathy for him seeing the situation he found himself captain in.

Jesus Christ, they've broadcast just about every second of game time in the off season - are we really going to bitch if every internal scratch match isn't streamed live?

I don't think everyone understands what leadership is. That was my point.

It was actually more in response to the attacks on Tex and what he has done as a leader than anything to do with he-who-shall-not-be-named-in-a-post-involving-1970crow :)

Plus I'd like to pretend we are brewing a Geelong beating strategy.

Sure, but there are other positions on the field.

Sloane should be used more uo forward or off a wing.

We need to play who we think will be our best inside mids not our highest paid.
Tagger

Yep he's thinking "run smart, not hard"
As they say at the cricket “Save your legs” when the ball is going to the boundary and you have no hope of stopping it

We already tried that in a game against Carlton. Cripps played one of the most dominant games of football ever seen in the AFL era.

And if it's the game I remember, we won by 10 goals despite that.

I remember VB hard tagging Pendles to only 19 touches in a half before turning his attention to Swan and limiting him to just the 20 in the second half.
