Being pedantic here, but if he came on at the 20min mark, and assuming 30min quarters, that's 40 mins out of 120 = 33%

Regarding turnovers, I'd like to see the % of uncontested kicks turned over v contested kicks. They're the ones which are really sub AFL level.

The Mackay running past centre kicking into the forward 50m and it goes straight to a Richmond player 27mins of 1st quarter.

The kick:

Tex 10m clear 40m out from goal:

Straight to Balta. Tex and McAdam were miles from it and it's not even a dangerous spot.

I can't get the stats down further than contested possessions. Hamill had 2 contested possessions and 4 uncontested. Best case 1 kick was uncontested. Mackay's clip is damming, if you did that for every forward entry you would be very busy though as we had 23 scoring shots from 50 entries. Reckon quite a few were over the heads of leading forwards.

That one's not over the head to a leading forward, that's not even close to the #1 forward who was all by himself right in front of the kicker.

You're right with Hamill, his TOs were poor when he came on at the 22 min mark of the 3rd, so played 33% of the game, not half a game.

Hamill: 33% ToG; 2 clangers; 3 kicks
MacKay: 77% ToG; 2 clangers; 6 kicks
Jones: 73% ToG; 1 clanger; 7 kicks

From the 8min mark of the 2nd quarter when he missed an easy set shot, Mackay had 1 kick (5HB) for the rest of the day (~65% of the game). Went missing when the game was on the line which is where you need your leaders to stand up.

How can you say the sub who played 33% of the game was worst on ground?

Nothing in the SANFL? MacPherson has averaged 30 possessions the last 2 weeks. Worrell has also been in great form averaging 15-20 each week. That's MacKay's best performances of the year.

He has experience, he's not a leader. If we were genuinely focussed on rebuilding and not 4 points, McPherson would be the obvious in and we'd bin Mackay forever. Right now he's getting games ahead of 2 kids with a future. If he's ladt man standing as he was in round 2 when selected it's understandable. Not now though, it's unforgivable but does speak to our priorities.

Wait, so at half time, Nick's was interviewed and said that the sub had been activated, but Hamill didn't come on until the 22nd minute??
Did he have to get dressed? Were his boots on? WTF is going on? How can it take that long?

First one I remember> Hamill just misses Kelly on the boundary. Note Mackay did well to get the contested ball to Hamill.

Second one was similar to Mackay, but was at his distance and the forwards were behind.

Third was coming out of defence, again, a bit of a floater that Cotchin intercepts. Right kick, not the right execution.

Could have kicked to Tex surely.

Honestly, your thinking on selection is so 1 dimensional it's not funny.

'Duhhhh new player MUST PLAY, don't worry about performances just GET GAMES IN'

If you had your way we'd have absolutely no experience in the side and we'd have headless chooks running around ground.

Lucky we had Dmacs experience or the wheels really would have fallen off last year and we might have finished bottom.

You might be right, but it’s 1 more dimension than anything you’ve got to say.

Probably fly in fly out same day. Minimal contact with anyone outside of their own bubble = minimal risk. Assuming they have all been tested prior as well.
Players are tested twice a week. Early and late in the week.

I think you can rebuild and focus on the 4 points at the same time. Case in point is playing Hamill over Mackay 2 weeks ago helps with rebuilding and winning the game. Mackay has never been "the difference."

Grundy out for 2-3 weeks and will miss this weekend. Cameron will ruck I assume and maybe Cox comes in as a forward. Wonder if it will change our thoughts at selection, before the weekends game it would've been a great chance to rest ROB but good form line more important. Will we let Murray play on Mihoceck? or get Fish to? Or Doedee? Or will Butts play on him and we hope for the best with a 15cm differential on Cox?

The problem here is Newchurch is a cat B rookie and a free spot outside the normal list numbers, Dudley would be seemingly unlikely to get to the rookie draft to enable us to do the same. I could be wrong on this as I haven't looked it up in a while but my understanding is if we cut him we can only replace him with another cat b rookie
Yeah, I hear what you're saying. But I wouldn't be surprised if Dudley slips through to the rookie draft, where we can take him as a Cat B.

He's small and high-risk. He has a good but not amazing year. He's certainly not top 40, I don't think?

To be fair, that poster did have Mackay in his list of outs this week.

Doesn't matter where we are on the ladder, we always seem to save our worst performances for the Pies (15-28-1 vs. Collingwood is our worst WL record by a fair margin). It would be bloody nice to buck the trend and get a win this week.

Out - Berry (injured), Mackay
In - Hately or O'Connor, Hamill
Sub = Mackay

Worrell & McPherson were OK vs. Bays, so they might come under consideration.

So are Collingwood here yet? Assume they will have exemption from the 14 days.
I can't see this game happening in SA if Collingwood are still in Victoria this week and haven't relocated interstate. Either a bye, or Spotless stadium is not being used again this week so they will look to have it there.

The case numbers and exposure locations are not dropping and exempting people from a hard border is much tougher than exempting them from isolation which is the case for VIC travellers here in NSW.

AFL has already asked for an exemption.
