47 goals is still only 2 per game. A 7 possession, 2 mark and 2 goal game isn’t going to be well received in B&F voting.

Let’s put it this way … Tom Lynch from Richmond has had a really average year… widely criticised for his output and rightly so …. 2021 season averages :

Goals : 2.1 (king) v 1.9

I50’s: 1.4 v 2.5

Goal assists: 0.3 v 0.8

SI’s: 4.7 v 6.4

Tackles: 0.8 v 1.6

Touches: 8.2 v 11.1

Marks: 4.1 v 4.8

CMarks: 1.1 v 1.7

Metres: 161 v 202

So he kicked a decent amount of goals as he played close to goal the entire season. But given Lynch had a very average year, I’m not surprised King missed top-10.

Reiwoldt finished 5th in a better side after kicking 4 more goals for the season.

I don't think anyone here minds Bing flying under the radar.

Amateurs.
Sharman has averaged 3 goals per game over the later part of his career.

Jack did have some top games this year one 6 and 2 fives plus a couple of other matchwinning games. Not playing in the same postions either. Not a proper comparison.

Even better. Didnt know the after pick 40 deal.
Sounds like we should manage it reasonably then

The other advantage is if any of our NGA's go undrafted we can automatically add them to our Rookie list without losing our pick in the Rookie draft. This is probably more relevant to Beilby and Perris. I think this was the plan for Biggy a couple of years ago but Richmond spoiled the party at pick 54 and we still had plans for our last pick in that draft pick 64 which ended up being Leo Connolly. After a couple of years you would have to say that was a pretty good call by our recruiters. It would be pretty amazing if we ended up with all 4 of our NGA's on the list but if we don't it will be because we rate those we do take higher not because of a lack of picks.

Pretty surprised to see Cousins delisted by the Hawks.

What’s that? The Hawks have delisted Justin Koschitzke’s cousin?

That is indeed pretty surprising

Snap him up Sainters

And yet ended up with 4 more goals.

What position does Riewoldt play chief?

Old mate suggested 47 goals doesn't get you a top 10 B&F place. Jack kicked 51 and finished 5th.

Read my post. The explanation is right there in front of you. Jack didnt play full forward all year, surely you know who did? I have a bit more data for you to observe but I cant see the point because you are fixated on a full foward who averaged 2 goals a game. Something for nothing though. He will win consecutive goalkicking awards at the Suns this year....;). Wonder how he went in the B&F last year -kicking 25 goals.

So what is the status?

It looks like no good UFA's left.

Pretty much ditto for RFA's

However someone like Talia may be an ok option.

Billings staying. Dunstan gone. Ross unknown, but if he goes will gain us very little.

Players that we can trade that we can afford to lose, but who may gain some value seems to only be Battle.

We do not have a second rounder, and so our trade position overall is quick week.

Draft wise it does seem that we have two worthwhile NGA picks that should cost us little via matching. Plus maybe another NGA or two as rookies or possibly a late pick.

OVERALL

Hard to see us trading in a star. Maybe just maybe if Swans salary cap is blown.

So it would seem that we will need to use our first round pick and NAIL it. Plus gain some useful NGAs cheaply and then a late pick or two. We need some more mature gold such as Wilkie or Highmore.

We need another back up ruck, as while Max Heath is promising he is just a kid. A capable key defender would be handy as well (ie Talia).
Absolute bonus if they have already quite good or are youngish with some upside, and could get better but we need at least one of each who is at least ok at AFL level.

With so many to cull this year no doubt they will try to recycle some discards or those that had never made it. Frawley, McKernan and Hunter were huge busts for us this for when they were needed to step in and go ok, they did not at all. So our lack of big-man depth was a huge problem in 2021. Moreso as our mids are much better with capable talls.

2022

Improvement would seem like it will need to come from what we already have rather than what we bring in and so our new fitness head honcho needs to be an out-perform for us as we desperately need most of our best players on the park to go well.

Higgins I am sure will be fitter and better in 2022. Sharman with a proper pre-season promises much.
Marshal and Billings should both be over their plantar fasciitis. Billings seems to cop a lot of ire, but when fit makes us better. Gresh will be back, but after his type of injury may not be at his best in 2022. So groan......that will probably mean that we are going to hope that the inyury plagued Hannas can actually play most of a season. We also need Paton to come back like he never missed the year.

So we need at least one of Byrnes or Bytel to get better.

Surely someone will pick him up

He's 24 and a bit like a less impacting Luke Dunstan. He had a good game against us this year but he's a pretty meh player. They have a heap of better similar mids too.

Byrnes and Bytel are unlikely to be the answer but should get better as they go. Both would have played under 40 games between them. If we improve the midfield it is because Gresham says fit or we can get a year out of Hanners without him breaking down. Maybe Hunter Clark into the mids other wise. Players start to hit constancy at around 50 games and really don't hit top form until they reach closer to 100 games.

Hunter Clark into the midfield full time as well.

Talia makes sense for next year, but we also need to look at a long term option rather than just bringing in stop gaps.
Sounds like he is Richmond bound. Are there any other mature types out there to get?

I hope we persist with Joyce. The games he played this year were pretty good - nothing spectacular but he didnt make many mistakes which is just as important for the key defender.

I had a look at the results and the players that were in the top 10 all looked to deserve a spot. They aren't that bad on paper. The only real surprise was that Witts had done enough before he went down that some more players didn't jump him. He was their best player until that point though.

That guy was actually just pointing out that Lynch had a terrible year but his stats were still much better except for goals. King was good but it's not outrageous that he missed the top 10 either. You don't get votes for what you might have done.

King’s total number of goals is equal 5th highest in the competition but he isn’t among the top 10 players in the 16th ranked team. Whatever the reasoning it looks and is bizarre. But we move on.

Free trash is still trash bill.

😍

We need Steele to train him instead of Bruce this year.
whys this an issue? Bruce Joined Steele training during the mandated time off whilst both were in Canberra, who to say Jack's season isn't also due to having Bruce accompany him. so many making far too much out of this
