Yes, you can really see some Brisbane style pain when this lot begin to fall off the perch. And not that much underneath if truth be told.
Its safe to say Richmond are about to fall off the perch, with probably their 11 best players 29+ And 2 of just retired.

But they have a few promising young players, Bolton, balta, short.Count graham, stack, chol if you want...
Not a lot...

But Geelong.....
Sheeesh there really is not much talent in young players under 29 there.
Parfitt 24 is good.
Miers 22 is good at his role.
Some people rate ratagoulea.

The best young guy there is Clark and all signs point to him heading back to Perth.

Jack Henry and Ratta go okay as well. Ay some point they have Constable to take obver from Selwood etc too. They haven't been developing a group underneath this time which is what always kept them up in the top 8 year after year but have gone the short cut route lately.

I remember when we were in for Karl Amon, club definitely got that one right. I was very meh at the time but he’s turned into a really good footballer.

I’ll take some encouragement that there’s a few fringe players out there that we have shown interest in that have eventually turned their fortunes around.

Glad someone at the club seems to have an eye for talent.

I wonder who the the next Karl Amon is?

Could very well be Lipinski or even a Brander.

Karl is a weapon now.

Reckon Geelong might be keen on Billings. Doesn't fit their over 30 demographic, but they need some ready made talent while their window is slightly ajar.

I think they’re window is closing very quickly. If they don’t win the flag this year then they face a dilemma, try one more time or bite the bullet and start to replenish their list with youth.

Hopefully they try one more time because this is their last chance to win the Premiership. They looked old and slow last night.

Clarke and Narkle, Constable, Henry , Miers are all good players and maybe some will leave but apart from that, not too sure.

Just to confirm. Due to the rolling requirements of first round picks, we must use either this years 1st round or next years first round, and can not trade out both, right?
I don't think so. I think we techincally used a first round pick last year, so we are able to trade out the next couple of years. However, given our position this year and the make up of the draft (loaded with mids in the top end) I think the general consensus is to use our 1st this year, as it suits our list needs.

Correct. Must use 2 in a rolling 4 year period.
If we are able to snag a late first this year it frees us up significantly
2019 - Traded
2020 - Used
2021 - Used*
2022 - Bing*
2023 - Bing*

If we are pursuing McLean, I really don't think Bing is in our plans in the near future. Getting McLean presumably means they see Marshall as the long term ruck, but it still leaves a tall forwardline. King, McLean, Membrey and Sharman. I can't see us planning to trade away 2 x 1st round picks to add to an area which we would be really well stocked in.

At this stage I can't even see us having the trade power to get McLean , with everyone saying we are using our 1st on a mid and we need what ever else we have to get Owens and Winhager - they will be sweating on Billings and Ross giving us some currency.
I'm sure they have a plan.

This is true, but we also chased Dean Kent and went hard for a few plonkers like Dylan Shiel.

On the balance our talent scouting seems pretty solid lately, Lipinski is probably a bigfooty special anyway.

Used last years first so we can trade out this and next years first if required

I don't think he'd cost too much. While he has good attributes and has shown some good form lately, he's on their rookie list, is out of contract and hasn't established himself as a lock in their best team. Doesn't leave the Swans with much of a hand if he requests a trade.

I’m sure we do.

They brought in Jeremy Cameron. Surely they have no choice but to try again?
