The only way I can see that happening is by us trading the NM 2nd to GWS for their 19, and on trading that and our future 1st for the Saints pick

Saints will know who we want, and they could take advantage of that. Otherwise they’ll just take MP themselves

Barnett making it 28. It would be nice if we could get him with our own future 2nd instead of Norths.

Billy Dowling looks a good sort, could be a good late pick given unlikely to get phillipou. Great stats this year.

If Phillipou slides to st kilda then:
Sydney trading their 2 picks for our future first, then trade 14 to St kilda, just question over what we trade with it, pick 17 or North future 2nd.

Elijah Hewett being taken outside the 1st round is mind boggling and I think Barnett will go quite a bit before pick 28, Hotton I thought might be a late 1st round chance. Can't see Phillipou slipping past the Hawks or Geelong personally.

If Hewett was still on the board when we traded in, surely we'd have to take him over Barnett Mutineer ?

I know, but if Hewett lived up to his potential he'd be pretty special. He has some risk, but well worth it at late first/ early second.

I'd have Hewett over a Barnett and a ruck over Turner.

I like Turner, but we can relist him when Seed goes back on the LTI.

He's lightning quick and a real metres gained running defender that goes alright up forward too..

Weddle might not be super tall for a KPD but by gee he can certainly play that role, very quick, great athleticism, big leap and tough as.

I don't mind our interest in any of them, really. Weddle definitely plays above his height, supreme athleticism for a player of his size and position, yeah you might hope he grows a couple of cm's but he'd be a great foil to one of Butts or Murray

Gallagher is actually a guy I've forgotten to put in my personal rankings, but he provides really nice production and rebound from defence

Looks like we prefer run and carry and blokes who can hit targets over KPDs. MM and Weddle are a touch short for KPD but both might be able to play taller in time. Not without risk, but Sam Taylor was the only all australian back man over 193cm this year.

Just about every one of the players mentioned were highly placed in at least one of the combine tests, so we like athletic profiles too.

Jones - seems to be more a wing these days
Scholl - always been a wing
Parnell - still a way to go, very raw, but promising
Murphy - need to actually get the coaches to try him in defence first
Hammill - conc concerns
Smith - 30yo
Doedee - not a high level rebounding type
MM - hybrid defender, not a pure rebounder

Still a lot of question marks over the actual defensive personnel we have. Would be fine with trading in for either a KPD or a rebounding half-back, myself (as long as it isn't a 3rd tall)

Although I suspect the appeal of Barnett for mine, is as a KPD .....an absolute need, given our dearth of KPD's

I'm not disagreeing with that but Harvey Gallagher who had played small forward/midfielder quite well too up until he was switched to half back and boy o boy did he light up in his new role, it was amazing/

I mean we all said the same last year and grabbed three 180cm guys lol

FWIW I think we'll trade in with a 2nd so I don't reckon we'll go for a player late (i.e. no Gallagher)
