Verrall the better ruck craft and more upside for mine

Did pretty bloody well well in his one and only game at the Nationals from limited opportunities in ruck.

He also rucked against 19 year old Jonte Hunter-Price yesterday as well who is a big boy and towelled him as well.

Fine you're a big fan of Barnett, understandable when he's had a lot more exposure this season but only due to Verrall's injury status coming into the season.
Off of very limited game time especially in the ruck Verrall has a National Combine invite so obviously the recruiters rate him enough to want to see how he tests and interviews.

Unfortunately Barnett didn't play when South played West but he towelled the 3 they put up against him Tom Scully, Harry Lemmey and Alex Curtis who are all big tall lads.
Also what about the fact he’s getting 24 disposals a game ??? Regardless of how tall his opponents are that’s impressive for a ruck

Barnett numbers haven’t been near that

Add in the injury and limited fitness coming back from that and he has plenty of upside

Chronic groin pain is debilitating and affects power and ability to train , huge upside IMO

I've no doubt if there was an obvious tall option to take in the region, they likely would.

Cadman is probably the only realistic option and I can't see him being taken effectively at pick #1.

A lot depends on where the PP is awarded also. If it's a mid round 1, then that changes things in that regard also.
I’d go Sheezel …. X factor galore

Clarko harnessing him and JHF is scary

I’d be shocked if they went any other way

North needs X factor more than anything amongst their group of youth, IMO
Cadman would be pretty handy too with Comben continually being injured and CCJ being CCJ.

It depends how much faith they have in Comben to actually stay healthy, I guess

Jacob Edwards another option of theirs as well I guess, or is he more being developed as a ruck?

The couple of VFL games I watched Edwards play around the middle of the VFL season he did less than SFA, admitedly playing in a pretty ordinary team.

Matty Phillipou will be on SEN SA after 8.00 am for anyone who can stomach the 5 minute fireman for a while.

The sarcasm is thicker than the fog in the hills today

Does this board not like new contributors? Pretty average stuff

Nah mate dont mind me, you have been like a little ray of sunshine with your inside word. I'm happy if just Ned finds a way off the list. But hey, I've been here before...

Probably of no interest to us now because he's not lasting to our 2nd pick, we need to start working out what mids have a chance of being available at our 2nd pick because that's likely where we're at now. Hopefully there's another Sam Berry, Chad Warner, Luke Parker, Lachie Neale, Touk Miller, Jack Steele, Mitch Duncan type there and Hamish and the crew can identify him.

Still some water to go under the bridge yet. Picks could be split or shifted between this year and next year. Crouch will probably leave, and maybe one or two others. Not outrageous to think we could have Rankine plus a decent round 1 pick this year. Probably not, but maybe.

Maybe the aim will be top try and get something from the pick 5 - maybe a later 2nd from GC to then go after the Brisbane 1st and maybe a guy like Hollands is still there?

In truth I think that is Hamish’s hitting zone anyway and look forward to it if thats how it plays out but I’m still holding out hope something comes from left field allowing us to grab him.

Would love to see us have a crack at Will Verrall, comes out the same Christies Beach junior system as JHF and has progressed very nicely over the past couple of years. Looks to have a lot of upside.
