Lemmeys stocks falling a little on the back of the AFL academy game. I’m wondering if he’s still suffering a little though his covid bout?

Scully a tall skinny kid struggled a little as well.

Anthony Munkara stocks on the rise.

Lemmey just hasn’t had a good run at it this year. Still has the same tools and talent, thst hasn’t gone away. Having said that if other kids are playing and putting up their hands then they have the chance to go past someone who hasn’t had that opportunity.

Having watched a tonne of those exhibition type games my perception is that key forwards regularly play under their talents and the inside type mids do really well.

I only got to see less than half of the game yesterday having switched to it after the port game.

Jhye Clark who I’ve been banging on about since last year is winning even more fans. I cannot and will not imagine a world where Clark doesn’t become a star mid.

Wardlaw is so impressive. All the aspects you love about ferocious inside tackling mids, except instead of being a no skilled plodder like most of them are he’s got some lightening first steps and reflexes.

I really liked what I saw of hollands as well.

Hewett didn’t stand out as much and was apparently quiet but he’s shown a fair bit before to convince me he’s quality.

Loved Munkara when he was playing for westies. Port is screaming out for small and medium forwards, and as I said after the first game I watched of him even though he’s 192cm (or something like that) he’s probably the guy I would look to fill that role for us. Can play small very very well. If we lost Amon, this is a player i would be super keen on taking with the pick we get.

Colby McKercher. 181 cm left foot. Tassie Devils.

Noticed BOG in a losing side.

Scouting notes a couple of weeks back.

"Again featuring in midfield, the crafty bottom-ager showcased his turn of speed and nifty decision making in tight spots. While certainly capable of bursting away and catching the eye with his breaking speed, McKercher bided his time on the ball to find handball exits with handy awareness and vision. He still produced a couple of nice breaks, but it was not exactly a day fit for flair."

Might be one to keep an eye on?

If the Horne-Francis trade is going to happen next year, it will cost our 2023 and 2024 first round picks. Possibly with some change flowing either way depending on his form and our ladder position.

It reaffirms that any early picks we have this year need to be spent on key position players.

A bit more love for Lewis Hayes.

"At 197cm, Hayes has some filling out to do but can play on talls, while taking the look of a much smaller player when in possession. His composure and skill are a couple of traits defiant of his height, and ones which set the 17-year-old apart as one of the many key position talents available in this year’s draft crop."

He's Sam's brother. He can play. He fills a obvious need. He wants to come here.

Would be criminal not to pick him up just a question of what pick we need to find. Think something early 20s would safely get it done if we could find it at this stage. Mid 20s to 30 probably still gets him. That he's likely 3-4 years filling out maybe works in our favour.

Hustwaite is also a very interesting key defender prospect.

I’ve barely seen him other than the half of the academy game I watched but he’s come on quickly and was just recently added to the academy. Apparently moves very well for a guy his size. Think he had a late growth spurt from memory to become kpp size. 194cm I think I recall.

Then there’s van es. I saw him play last year and took note. 196-197cm, long reach and a frame that will fill out to be pretty big. He has some natural defender instincts, tho from a small sample size I’m not sure he’s as mobile as some of the other kpps available

Brodie tuck is a swing man, but I don’t think he’s anywhere near dominant enough to make it as a kf at afl level. Interesting prospect as a key defender tho. 194cm.

Jefferson is a kf who has played back a bit. Apparently a very strong contested mark. Sounds like the perfect player to take as a kf and then move back if they aren’t looking like a gun kf. 194cm

Michealnanny is a pretty good prospect. 192cm tho and I would prefer a bigger player to pair with pasini but wouldn’t mind him.

Then there’s a few other flyers. Cockshell probably won’t get drafted as a kf but might be worth a try as a key defender with a late or rookie pick.

I’m not just adamant we need to take a key defender this draft, I think if the chance is there we take 2. Someone like Hayes , hustwaite or Jefferson would be available from 10-30, if we end up with a second pick around that range, and there should certainly be someone like tuck or van es around the 3rd or 4th round.

Casey Voss at 20 lol, **** me. Literally just last week he had clubs pass their pick entirely rather than take him in the midseason draft as a rookie, and Knightmare has him as a top 20 pick. The guy is an idiot.

seems very odd. no one is willing to give him a free list spot but will spend a top 20 pick on him??

Ive kept an eye on Matteas for 3-4 years. I love what he can do, hes my favourite this year but hes not the number 1 talent in this pool. Thats just Knightmare doing what he always does and reacting to a big game

Thats why hes still a pundit and hasnt got a job in club land

Y’all ain’t even taking about the biggest miss on his board, Jhye Clark at 19.

Clark is just about the easiest home run a club is ever going to get, and I’ll be shocked if teams aren’t super keen on him.

The only reason he may not go top 3 in this draft is the quality of top end mids and perceived upside of some other mids.
