disagree. We screwed him, it's that simple. His first year showed plenty enough and then he went backwards to the point he'd not even get a spot in an SANFL reserves 22. He became a basket case.

I don't recall him showing plenty of anything in his first season. In fact I recall him being disappointing compared to others from the same draft and others on our list drafted from a similar position, followed by nodding proclamations from some corners that he'd be better for the run in his second season. He wasn't.

I went back to the 2019 season and he played the first 3 games in the AFl side playing as a small forward while McHenry starts in the midfield in the Sanfl getting 20 touches. Then misses 4 games and comes back through Sanfl. Struggling to touch it. McHenry starts of the season on find form getting multiple 27 touch games before getting injured returns for finals kicking 4 goals in our win against Norwood

So ned was the one who looked better in 2019

Than you would be in the minority, even oppo fans liked Jones after his first season

According to the SANFL stats sheet Chayce's first couple of SANFL games in 2019 look pretty good on paper. 8 and 10 clearances his 1st 2 games is pretty tidy.

Both Jones and McHenry are going to be fine.

So much panic about these two in here just because they were picked in the first round.

I think Jones is finding his way, started hitting bodies last season.

McHenry is way better than people are giving him credit for.
the only issue with jones is that butters is elite

To put things into perspective, Jones and McHenry are entering their 5th seasons.

Rory Laird - AA squad 4th season, AA team 6th season, off the rookie list
Charlie Cameron - AA 6th season (at Brisbane) off the rookie list
Matt Crouch - AA 4th season
Brodie Smith - AA 4th season
Rory Sloane - B&F in 5th season
Patrick Dangerfield - AA 5th season
Bernie Vince - AA squad 4th season
Richard Douglas - B&F 5th season

I think it's fair to expect our first round picks to be at minimum in the mix to win our B&F in their 5th season. That (or a greater achievement) is what the majority of our good players were able to achieve.

If they don't reach that mark they'll probably top out as a role player

The first round picks is relevant to the cost and what else we could have had, would you prefer Butters or Jones?

I actually think you’re using the fact they were first rounders to excuse them and make out they are better than they are because you know they need to make it.

Jones was drafted as a mid, he’s trying to make it as a back pocket. One week he is ok, followed with about 3 average games. He does dumb stuff and doesn’t have a football brain or composure.

As for McHenry, crickey, a lot better? Really? Which part of his game? Is it the hard running and defensive pressure? Because it sure isn’t his goal sense and composure. We could have kept Riley Knight who was better in the same role. But I’m curious, given he’s way better than what we think, why despite playing nearly every game didnt he make it into the top 10 of our B&F? We had players make it who missed a number of games. Finally, what would we get for him in a trade if there were takers?

The difference between coming into a always in contention for finals side (or close to it) and coming into a full on bottomed out side.

Everyone didn't like the staying in contention system, so obs they were against getting the draftee results scorpus has listed right?

I remember that first Norwood game cause I was there. Tight at half-time, Jones and McHenry literally put the team on their backs from the midfield in the 2nd half. Was an uber impressive performance, I had massive hopes for them after that game.
