191cm and lightly built currently, unless he has a significant growth spurt he'd want to be a very special talent to handle the modern day taller KPF's. At this time he's more suited to the 3rd tall intercepting defender role.
A bit like Lever than at 194 and given he is only about 18, he still has a bit of time to go where he could shoot up a few cms.

When considering Grundy, remember we've also got O'Brien until 2025.

If only we had trialled worrell in that 3rd defender / intercept role, forward planning might have had us as taking max and then looking at some good draft capital for doedee so we could go after talent we desperatly need in other areas.

I know doedee is seen as captain material but in truth he is one of only a few players with real value we have that other clubs would genuinely want and be prepared to pay well for

The only players that would get us a first round pick that I would be willing to trade would be Doedee and Laird.

Another 5 year contract after winning a B & F.

We seriously have idiots and the worst negotiators running the club.

If we must give 5 year contracts (which should be limited to elite, repeat elite players only) make sure we have milestones (both individual and team) and performance requirements.

Can we just not enagge with the crazy posts?

(and calling anything "PlayStation" is a cringey boomer comment)
Not really. The term comes from the AFL Evolution video game coach mode where you can trade anyone for anyone, and the AI trades make no sense. I was able to trade Rory Atkins for Dustin Martin for instance.

The Suns have got Budarick and Weller - both small to midsized running defenders - out with ACLs for the bulk of next year. I wonder if we could sell them on the idea of Brodie Smith on a two year deal as the perfect replacement whilst they look to come into their window? For their second rounder I'd do that deal.

I’ve got issues with Smithers, but I’m not getting rid of him for pick 30

I could see why with 4 years, but 5 I mean seriously its like wtf.

I think every player should be considered to be tradeable at the tight place. No player should be ever considered bigger by the Club.

Apparently the Pies would be open to a trade for Grundy if the right offer presented itself.

Grundy would allow us to clean out a few deadwood at our Club and provide for us that "extra mid" in the way he plays at ruck as well. He is well done on his numbers and formline in 2022, but we would be a significant improvement on anything we have now or in the future. Playing TT and Grundy in the same team is very doable given how mobile they both are and would allow us to stretch teams in attack, with Tex and Fog right up there as well.

If the Pies were to pay some of his salary, it is worthy of consideration as it wouldnt impact on our salary cap as well. In terms of trade, I think the Pies would be happy to get him off their books given the talent on their list and the price wouldnt be as high as what it may have been a few years back.

We pay 100% of his contract in 2023 and $750k a year for the last four - AND we trade ROB and give them what we get and nothing more?

I'd be very happy with that.

I would go after De Gory as he would be good for our young midfield and can kick goals but I know the club is as conservative as they come.

DeGoey is an absolute flog and we should keep our distance from him. He bullshits the playing group about how he gets injured and can't stay true to his word.

Isnt Max M , the father son we aim to get a KPD?
I think he tops out at about 192cm, which is probably too small (though Sicily makes it work).

Something along those lines, yes.

Getting him off the books for the Pies is the massive win for them, which is why he should come very cheaply, importantly he would see us being able to trade ROB and get Grundy who has a high ceiling potentially to be reached again.

Grundy is like an extra mid which would helps us a lot around the ground as well and he could rotate with TT.

Are we the only club that gives 5 year deals to players after they win a B&F?

I know exactly where it comes from.

It's all the boomers on here that use it constantly that make it such a cringe thing to say. It's the posting equivalent of a Yorat impersonation.

Tell that to Geelong. I guess they'll keep winning flags while we keep our principles. We have so many flags to be self righteous about who we have on our list. They aren't so self righteous that they will fill our list with spuds though are they??? Geelong are having a good laugh at us over Stengle right now and will bring in Degoey to make them stronger. I'm sure their members don't mind that Degoey likes a beer if he helps them win another flag.

In saying all of that I would preference a Hopper or Rankine over Degoey as stated above. Not because Degoey likes to party but because they are younger.

If we're going to throw that kind of deal at someone, is there a young mid who would be worthy of this?

The thing is, I think with the playing group we could get away with saying these were already Grundy's prior contract conditions.

If we bring another mid with that contract, you can imagine many would be disgruntled. Not to mention, I dont think there is any that would want to come to SA and or the Crows.

Grundy, JHF, Michaelanny would be an awesome improvement to various holes in our list at the end of the year.

Then we look to get say Rankine when he is FA and we can look at finals towards the end of the 2020s.
