I can see Port chasing Grundy though .....he's the missing piece, they have no #1 Ruckmen .....Lycett is "shot"
They've been on the ruck recruitment journey for a few years now.

First it was a long term deal for Lobbe, and then went and got Ryder on a big deal - > pushed Lobbe out
Next it was a long term FA deal for Lycett -> pushed Lycett out
Now Grundy on a big deal, will push Lycett out.

They seem to like giving long term deals to ruck, only to bring in another after a couple of years and realise they can't play 2 in the same team, and force the older one out.

Meanwhile, they have Hayes trying to get a game.

That's not a thing yet though.

And I prefer what they are a doing with their rucks compared to what we have done. Where is our developing ruck?

Powaa need to stop kidding themself that they are close to a flag. Once their old stars retire they are about as good as us with an SANFL side that is close to last. At that point players like Butters will be off.

Of course it's a first round pick for Port and a third for the Crows, old SEN doesn't disappoint.

What has Karl Amon done over his career?

So Karl Amon is better than Brad Crouch? Has he won a B & F?

Understand it is all based on $$$ value of contract and its length but is his contract going to be worth more than Brad Crouch’s contract?

Hayes isn't developing there, not developing. A 23yo ruck who has played 7 games, highly regarded by all reports. But now they are playing two forwards in the ruck rather than giving him a game.

If I was him, I'd be looking for a new club.

Yeah you would, but he is a developing ruck on their list and they have others, we have none.

Hayes, Lycett, Teakle and Visentini - and if they are making a play for Grundy, 5 is clearly too many list spots to take up on rucks, not to mention Finlayson and Dixon.

Some interesting ruck lists, some clubs are going light:

Melb: Gawn, Jackson, Daw (retired)
Carl: Pittonet, TDK, Mirkov
Freo: Darcy, Meek, Benning (Lobb)
GWS: Flynn, Preuss, Briggs
Dogs: English, Sweet, Martin

I think 3 is the right number personally, and I'd hope it's ROB, Thilthorpe and another 21yo athletic type. Strachen is the same age as ROB, so maybe on the rookie list.

Powaa have an obsession with ruckman. They need mids. How powaa, how about your first for Lairdy?
Yes they do ....and Dunkley is the perfect fit for them ....he's a butcher, in the Taranto mould ....but surround him with Rozee and Butters & that's a good mix

IF ..the AFL bring in the Last Touch Rule .....Throw Ins and Ball-Ups will reduce even more than the current trend

Sam Hayes is a pure tap ruckman ....so his usefulness will diminish

On the contrary, ROB who is a **** Tap Ruck .....becomes more useful IF he can hold a mark ......likewise Thilthorpe

I think he tops out at about 192cm, which is probably too small (though Sicily makes it work).
have you actually grabbed a ruler lately and looked at exactly how big 3 or 4cm‘s is?..

its sweet f all..

the difference between a 192cm high and 196cm high person is bugga all..

and negligible if the 192cm bloke is more flexible and has a greater leap on him.. and that Max lad does actually look like a bit of a “jack in the box” on the field when you watch him play.. he’s also very ”wirey/skinny” at the moment.. looks like a rubber band.

no one in their right mind is paying 750-800k plus a/y for Karl Amon…

not a chance.

max he will be offered is 600-650k.. and thats a second round compo pick..

and its pretty much what that article states..

and a late second/early third or a third for mcrouch, as per the article, sounds pretty right..

the comment on Daniher is funny though.. given the bombers and lions cheated the system to get that little compo win for the bombers…

It's the reason he doesn't look at rulers, he knows how big 4 cms is...

I don't mind Amon, has quite a few good attributes but a first round pick is about 750k when about 500k would be more than enough to prise him loose

Late 2nd for Amon is fair. We will probably get a late 3rd for crouch.

Kind of depressing that GROTTO had to bring up that we signed up Rob for 5 years.

What were we thinking?

The downfall has been pretty average. He is only 26 but he is aging so quickly when you see him move out there.

He was a stopgap but has become a problem. Albeit on the lower priority compared to other things on the list but it wasn't supposed to be. So the 4 year extension does look bad now.

Amon will get 600k x 4 or 5 years and the cost will equate to a mid 2nd rounder .

His 2022 form has been ok compared to 2 very good seasons previous .

Hawks look set and the G will suit his game running the left wing .

Amon is a free agent so if the offer is big enough they could get end if first round, you think Crouch is worth more than a 3rd rounder?
I don't think it's about what Crouch is worth. It's more about does Adelaide want him off their list for a nothing sort of pick.

Personally, I'd rather keep him while the junior mids are developing for an extra year while he is contracted. He can go for fifth rounder the following season, we shouldn't need him at all by then.

You’d think he’d get the same kind of contract as BCrouch, therefore band 3, which is a second round pick.

They’ll be able to cover him with Sinn who probably projects as a better player than Amon.
