Sydney beat them with superior handball chains literally running through them on overlap - and very excellent field kicking skills.
Collingwood are going to continue making the high risk high reward field kicks - today the well drilled Sydney defensive structures covered for that on teh small SCG ground - MCG is a totally different proposition - more space to cover.

As for Carlton's 'form' - there will be no comparison to Melbourne game style which is like Carltons based on contested football apart from decent 4 quarter pressure.

Collingwood who many tipped a bottom 4 team in 22 will be playing for a top2 finish - would be great to knock 'em off - and stick a middle finger up.

They will go in big favourites - for good reason(s).

Really well said. Most don’t get this. The game styles of Melbourne and Pies are very different. The SCG is very different space wise to the MCG. Pies much more suited on MCG.

All we can take is a small indicator based on how we played physically and competitively vs Melbourne. If you say Pies are easy then it is like an Adelaide supporter saying we beat Carlton so we are top 8 material based on our end of season form. They aren’t and Pies aren’t easy.

The Dees game suited us. We play similar styles in terms of stoppages and stop start marking. Pies play overlap footy and when on song use the corridor through peddles and the Daicos boys.

This week for Carlton is bring the same stoppage and tackling mentality but Voss needs to specifically focus on decision making and kicking versus the Pies rebound footy from turnovers. We have to hit our targets even more and be sure of ourselves. Voss has to reciprocate roles which I think he will. Sidebottom, Pendles and the Daicos boys are their elite decision makers. We have to negate them on transition.

Like versus Melbourne, Saad and our defenders need to use the corridor again to free numbers up on each wing as Pies try to cover three outlets.

We don’t need to be scared of them if we play the same contested footy. But we need to respect them and focus on how we use the ball.

One of our best yesterday
Absolutely. Super super effort by all the lads. Really proud of them! We all should be very proud, exciting times ahead! In every game, your best players will turn it over now and then and blunders will be made, can be frustrating but we need to stick fat and keep supporting this mob because it will click for us soon. Absolutely love this team and more so when they're putting in efforts like they did last night. I had to console a lad at the footy last night after the game, tears were streaming down his face. Heartbreaking indeed but told the champ to smile and be proud. Vossy is our man and our culture is changing, doesn't happen overnight. I know sometimes we are quick to judge, sometimes we are a little impatient but I promise you all, not long now till we see the fruits of our labour. Go the mighty blues!

Collingwood Carlton in a game that actually means something!! It’s been far too long, the build up will be huge and the MCG will be buzzing, see you there next week!!
I picked a shit time to head to Bali!! 😖😖

.....or a good time if we lose 😆

Are you taking the pee eye double 5?

Why is Young out for Plowman? Under what logic?

Playing in a must win game against Collingwood at the MCG. our club's biggest game of the 21st Century. The only things bigger are a Carlton vs Collingwood Final and Grand Finals.

Losing this game isn't an option.

In Cerra
Out Newnes

No way bring in TDK. We have been losing the clearance with TDKs chaotic style for weeks now. Pitto is boring, average but reliable. He should be improving bit by bit.

No way bring in Plowman. Send Doch back with Cerra back and simply let Doch pinch hit in the midfield. Docherty was awesome but backing up after that effort is hard. Or go 50/50 with Cerra midfield and half back. Cerra has done that role for Freo.

In what world are you dropping Young for Plowman?!??

Young was borderline bog for us last night.

Not sure if you’re being serious.

Young cost us the game by not marking the ball.

Pies didn’t bring any heat against the Swans and weren’t able to intercept with there small 2 nd/ 3 Rd defenders and Moore not getting involved.

Need to bully them at the stoppages and get it in deep to limit there run off hb

Lets drop marchbank, cotrell and mcgovern for not getting a fist to spoil melksham! Cripps made a few errors on the night too. Shall we drop him too? Stop being silly and get behind our players. They were super last night and will only get better for this. Go Blues

What has been the Pies secret this year?
The two young Daicoses....esp no.35................................maybe we can suss out what been going on or peter can tell them to have a quiet one ?
Peter supposedly a carlton supporter ?

Peter is most definitely not a Carlton supporter but the current number 35 at Collingwood, Nick, was a fanatical Carlton supporter growing up.

Carrol gives us more run and can play inside against the best run and spread team in the comp. I would rather an extra mid/wing than 3 small fwds
He proved last time he wasn't ready yet
I ain't bringing him cold against the pies in front of a cauldron with near on 100k present

Potentially ridiculous good ins if we were to squeeze into finals with the pre-finals bye.

I am gonna guess it’ll be Newnes as he omission with Cerra (if fit) or TDK as the replacement.
