Probably read this.
Apparently no-one uses defensive wing any more.

I'm not saying we play 7 defenders on the field, but we pick 7 in the 22.

Setterfield plays defensive wing, but that's not the same as pre 6-6-6 where teams would play a 7th defender rather than a wing.

You don't subscribe to the way Voss structures the team?
Not at all, he has done a wonderful job, I understand the reasons behind having a 7th defender atm so you cover yourselves in case of injury or any particular matchup within games…

Personally if we were near full strength with the option of selecting best players available then I’d be putting the best credentialed players in even if that comes at the expense of the outright 7th defender….

Whatever happens i hope we keep playing in the manner we have while improving in areas along the way, whatever the selection/structures we play, I’m not disliking what we’re doing just a different opinion on my behalf…
All good…

is McGovern ok.

I know he missed last week, he wasnt listed as an injury, it was just hamstring tightness right?

You'd imagine he'd be straight back in. Was only COVID protocols, so a 7 day isolation. Providing he hasn't tested positive in the mean time. Was he a positive test, or a close contact?
I'm not entirely sure but I've seen media suggesting he was available after Saturday with a negative test, so I'm not sure where the timelines line up there as I haven't followed it.

With the intensity we've been playing at and the opposition we've been dealing with this could be a flogging in our favour. Time slot and venue swings in their favour a little. But if this was satdee at the 'G' we'd be licking our lips lets face it.

Suns have beaten a hapless eagles? hmm.

GC have been a semi thorn in our side for quite some time. Often due to our own misguided self belief or lack thereof.

This year has already thrown up a ton of surprises. Hopefully this isn't another one.

Cmon baggers. Blues by 38.

Went for the Carlton by 21-40 points range in the poll.

Not out of any disrespect for Suns, they usually play well against us, and this round will probably be no exception. I'm just expecting that Voss, assistants and players have been working hard on improvements this week after the Hawthorn game. Betting we'll see a more considered and organised approach to Suns attacking. And not just leaving the defenders to it.

Go baggers

2 weeks ago Melbourne only beat them by 13 points.

Ill take a win by any margin and go 4-0.

he was listed a runaway success......

ffs he could do his hammy sneezing and based on his history, might be a tad longer than that.

Funny, we have Walsh have surgery and be back in one month, McGov plays a game and is a bit sore and ends up out for longer. Balances out I guess.

I don't think it's been correctly updated. Think all the weeks estimates are from last week.

Gold Coast were trying their little hearts out, and Melbourne barely broke a sweat.

Based on what happened last week, I'm not gonna suggest a massive win until I see that we don't lose half a line to injury/isolation, but if we can build an early lead and stifle the Suns' next-quarter-push, I reckon they wilt. They've got some fight in them, but only if you let them capitalise on it. Absorb it and counter and they'll fall back into old habits (boundary kicks, overhandballing etc.).

Yeah, it would be nice if it's comfortable though.

Yeah, I do think we will win by a comfortable 20+ assuming pitto gets up.

Suns don't have the break neck speed of ball movement our last few opponents had.

Their midfield doesn't bat that deep and their forward line looked very average last week without King, Day and Rankine.

Rankine likely to play, but we should be too good.

I'd be just about 100% certain of a win if we were playing at the MCG.

Thanks Stamos, at least the AFL publish "something". The Carlton FC website is particularly inept at providing updates and when they do provide updates on injury it is usually bullshit. I should know better.

I think we will have a good day on the GC. I was nervous leading up to the Hawthorn game. Thank the gods for our first quarter!
We have our preferred mids intact and they will only get better. I'm thinking Walsh really explodes and hits the scoreboard. A nice even spread of goalkickers should get us there reasonally comfortably.

Nice troll attempt. What you seem to forget is that we can all see right through you windows. You can't pull the curtains over my eyes.
Stop being such a pane.

Apologies if you actually meant it. I didn't mean to frame you for something you didn't do.
I'm sure he is shattered by your comments ..either that or you cracked him up.
