Could work if Saad/Williams/Docherty/Newnes can cover their smaller faster forwards. I think the intercept role will be of more importance against sides like Geelong and Melbourne who have talll marking options and who like going pretty direct through the middle as often as possible..
Weitering would be elite in that role and could use his kicking as more of an offensive weapon if he isn't saddled with lockdown duties.

Also takes away the possibility of his opponent dragging him up the ground and out of his operating area.

In: Saad, Martin
Out: Boyd, TDK or Pittonet

I say Saad is next man back

suggest we go with an addition runner in Martin and it’s either TDK or Pittnonet (if injured), Silvagni or Young can relief ruck - not likely but that’s what I prefer

Parks to be sub to provide some height down back if required

B: Plowman - Young - Newman
HB: Williams - Weitering - Docherty
C: Walsh - Cripps - Setterfield
HF: Silvagni - Curnow,C - Martin
F: Durdin- McKay - Owies

Foll: Pittonet, Cerra, Hewett

Int-b: Saad
Int-mid/f: Kennedy, LOB
Int-f: O’Brien

Sub: Parks
Int-f: Fish?

100% - his kicking ability is wasted as is his marking ability as a pure stopper - would be great if Carlton could find someone as good as him to plug the FB position.

Largely against many changes, the easy one is Saad for Boyd.

But I want Martin back in. Could we go Martin in for TDK, and OMac in for Plowman (his game was fine, but seems he is behind others at the moment).

Play the three talls in the backline but let Weiters off the chain as an interceptor? Then OMac can play 2nd ruck?
O Mac 2nd ruck -- young has 2nd ruck in final winning side, if going to rotate from the back half it would be young

So, this is another game where the team have a chance to show us they are no longer the Carlton of old. We are going to go into this game as clear favourites....and the Carlton of the last 10-15 years would lose this game by 4 goals.

Lets see if the side have addressed the issue of the last few weeks with massive lapses in defensive pressure and structure that allowed Bulldogs/Hawks to get back into the game.
At the moment we are the carlton of old - as a kid I used to listen to the radio and we would be going ordinary then next you know we would bang on 8-10 goals and it was over -- we playing that rope to dope again - just we swapping the quarters around 😂😂

I don't know why Kemp is not being played at centre half back in the reserves as an option should we need him as he would have been very handy on Sunday particularly with his ability to run out of defence and create
This also amazes me he played his junior at back he trained all pre season in the back - we know gov Mac and injury prone .. he must do something the coaches really don't like down there - but he has a great leap and is good below his knees ..

Straight swap for Ben McKay. NM need better players coming out of the middle and we desperately need another KPD

Imagine the McKay bros playing for the next 10 years at the Blues in opposite goal-squares every week. Delicious.
Are Nth really that desperate - McKay worth 2 Dows

DeBoer did a number on Touk Miller.

Touk, say hello George!

Fiorini had 25 and he was their biggest disposal winner. He's an icing on the cake type, not a match turner.

Rowell only had it 18 times (he'd dreaming too much about wearing the navy blue).

GWS led by 30 before the end of Q1, and by 50 at the 12 minute mark of the last quarter.

They then went quiet and GC (Chol in particular with 3) kicked the last 4 goals to make it a 'respectable' 26 point margin.

It was a flogging.
He also had Ash switching -- I don't think hewitt would run with him all day as Touk runs guys into the ground - most probably a role - since he playing sweeper often he may move up on him at stoppage as to not let him out into open space if he get hot will knuckle down on him for a while like he did with Bont .

Aside from your appraisal of Plowman, and where he fits in our back 7, you were dropping a back, and not replacing him.
Saad Weitering Kemp
Williams Young Docherty

I don’t really subscribe to having the 7 defenders, but good players that can play multiple positions certainly are extremely important and can help balance out positional changes if/when needed…

Seems like Newman is the preferred 7th defender in the best22 so far this year…
Stocker when fit again would be my preferred option in that role….
McGovern takes over from Kemp when fully fit again…
