I'm hoping for this to happen.

From my, admittedly limited, viewing, I think he needs to be more of a presence in play rather than just rucking and then being a nonentity.

I would love to be wrong about this.

De Koning is a few years ahead of Mirkov just on fitness base alone and he couldn’t run at the end of the Hawks game.
Mirkov would be cooked before half time if he played first ruck in the league team this year.
I’m certainly hoping he can make it eventually but I doubt he’ll be ready for at least another 12 months, probably longer.

Give the kid a break. He has played no more than 10 senior games of football. Have a look at his injury from last year, looked like a train wreck. Lucky to be every playing again. He has another 3 years (almost) on Carlton's list. He will develop strongly.

I actually was giving him a break. I was saying that footage alone was damning but he got 46 tap outs so must have been going up for those.

I'd love to have such a big unit in our side going forward. In today's market though, he'll need to come on quickly.

It's not that alarming unless it's a habit, which we've no reason to believe it is as there's only 1 bit of footage of him doing it.

Most likely just an error in judgement. Probably changed his mind about how he wanted to attack the contest as he was running in and just erred.

He's a big boy remember it takes a while for that brain to send its signals around...

If pure ruck work were 95% of the game instead of the 5% I'd agree.

Alas, it is not. There have been equally good tap rucks who haven't made it at AFL level (not at Carlton but elsewhere) because of their inability to impact the contest subsequent to the ruck contest.

There's a lot to like. I just think you're being a bit wishful right now.
