The Rankine rumours have legs and genuinely seems possible.

I think JHF this off season is a bit of a pipe dream but in saying that we as a football club are much more likely to land him this off season than next as weird as that sounds. Port aren't ready this off season but they would be by next year, as would a couple of big Vic clubs. The time is now, and if Norths asking cost is to give up two firsts or a first and Doedee I'm doing it

IF our first rounder is involved (I somewhat doubt it would have to be), i guess it would look like:

Rankine + 8
for
4 + 25?

Values him at pick 13, which seems a bit rich for an uncontracted small forward
Left field guessometer work...

We take grundy's full contract and collingwood give us a 2nd rounder to go with ut. We bundle up our 2nd and tge pies 2nd to trade with brisbane for their 1st. Their 1st goes to GC with our 2023 2nd for rankine

So we get grundy and rankine in tgat guesswork scenario. Then its who we trade out to help balance the books salary wise

Im not saying he is coming to us, but history suggests its definitely more likely a player is leaving if he hasnt resigned before August.

I could accept Newchurch leaving if we got Rankine. Wouldn't need Newchurch with Rankine, Rachele, Keays up forward.
Plus needing to find a spot for Cook, Pedlar, Gollant, Milera, Taylor, Nankervis, McAdam and hell even Sloane.

Emma Quayle..?? ;)
if Rankine came to us I wouldnt have both he and Rachele in the forward line together.

i’d have them rotating through the midfield.. when one’s in the midfield the other is in the forward line.. with the ultimate goal of Rachele ending up a nearly fulltime mid that rests forward and rankine a fulltime forward who does stints in the midfield.

we still need a hell of a lot of class in our midfield.. Rachele has it in spades. dont wanna waste him playing as mainly a forward.

so I’d still have plenty of room for Newchurch.

I will be fuming if they let Newchurch go without at least giving him a decent run of games at AFL level.

Personally think the club will pay for it if they give away Newchurch without understanding what he can do at AFL level.

Negligent.

It depends what is offered for him.

We have the option to keep him on a CAT B list (outside our list) - so as a free hit it would have to be a pretty good offer - I'm not sure Geelong's second is a good enough offer.

Can someone who has watched a lot of north this year explain to me what jhf has shown to live up to the predraft hype such that we’d spend a top five pick on him.

I really don’t understand the JHF trade talk. Regardless of home sickness and wants to come to the AFC, (V)AFL would burn the place to the ground before letting a first year Pick 1 leave to a non Vic team.
nah,

i reacon the AFL would encourage it..

and they’d use it as another reason to help them justify giving North a PP.. “look, pick 1 from last year has walked out on them we have to help them out”

they’ll then have pick 1, pick 2 and pick 4 or 5 off the crows and possibly a half decent crows player like doedee..

and it also provides an instant slapdown to any thoughts of the crows getting any draft concessions for being shit 3 years running which has been getting some media attention in recent weeks.

I cant answer your question as i haven't watched alot of North but i agree w/you, from what i have watched of north...to me he's not worth 2 top 5 draft picks right now...we would be paying a kings ransom on his future potential and there are no guarantees...

So Doedee has gone from one of our quality young players and future captain last year to now only half decent despite being very good early in the season and BOG against Richmond?

We've played Rowe, Murphy and McHendry in there for long periods of time this year.

Imagine having Rachelle, Rankine and Newchurch instead or Cook even.

I do agree though, that you could use those players in the midfield or wing for impact.

I think Newchurch could actually be a great wingman btw.

If that's all it took we couldn't jump fast enough....however that won't get it done.

Agree. FFS especially given we never gave him a chance to prove himself.

Did it ever occur to the Crows, that maybe some players perform better at AFL level, than SANFL level.
Yeah, we should bring in all of the players who don't play well in the SANFL, just in case

if it gets us a potentially elite midfielder.. yes please.

Doedee and our 2022 1st out.. JHF in

worrell takes doedee’s spot.

2022 2nd and 2023 1st out… Rankine in

mcrouch out.. pick in the 50’s in
frampton out… pick in the 50’s out

these later picks used to match a bid on Max M..

Yeah, we should bring in all of the players who don't play well in the SANFL, just in case
no matter how many times you keep saying this it wont all of a sudden become true.

newchurch has been good all year.

Lord above - has ever a player done so little and has as many people carry on so much as Newchurch?

He's maybe had four good lower league games in his career. We've been carrying him this whole time and YES he's inproved, but he still can't back it up.

**** me, why are they possibly offering that?

These are the tough calls that build premiership sides that we've been unwilling to make in the past.

The midfield is definitely an area I'd like to see us gamble.

Nice tantrum.

No. We should have rewarded Newchurch when he was doing well in the SANFL and placed him in the team in the AFL at the time.

Just in case.
