Surely we could/would have gotten a better return if we waited until live trading on draft night(s)?
we wouldnt have had 43 on draft night as we only had 4 senior list spots so essentially we had to make the trade now before list lodgement deadline or lose it

Is that how it works though? Would Brisbane need to have 6 list spots available to take all their point picks to the draft?
Yes, that's how it works. List spots = number of picks.

So basically if we couldn't trade 43 on draft night we would've had to say "pass"?
There was never going to be a pass because the pick is deactivated beforehand. We go in with picks 2,3,23 and 40.

So how are Brisbane selecting 6 players on draft night when everything is eaten on Ashcroft + Fletcher?

4 picks in the rookie draft?
They don't have to. The minimum is 3 picks at the ND.

The minimum they can have on their senior list is 36 players.

Brady does it again. Can't believe how he pulls these off.

After the JHF trade he says these picks (40 + 43) would be valuable as they would come back into the 30's (which we know is not the case). Then he trades one of them off for a future pick in the 60's.

Alternately, he could have delisted Spicer and rerookied him. Live traded 40, 43 and a F3 if needed for 22.

We should have tried the above. Could have got 2 of Keeler, George, Gruzewski, Clarke, Hustwaite, Konstanty and Ryan. Instead, we get one and a rookie. Big opportunity missed.

I thought clarko and viney make all the decisions now?

First point, we probably know who we're taking with the rookie spots so this wasn't an option.

Second point, how do you know he didn't try to trade and his offer was rejected? If I were * I certainly wouldn't be accepting that offer. If the situation was reversed I'd be filthy if we traded away 22 for 40 & 43. There is no guarantee that Davey is bid on before Pick 22.

Each to their own, but there seems to be a lot of people on here who think every club who has an early second round pick should be trading it to us for 40 & 43 if it were that enticing an offer the trade would have been done. The problem is it's only an enticing offer from North's Big Footy perspective.
