Legit smokes and mirrors, it’s just rhetoric at this point. Dish up or shut up about the hub

Completely agree.

The "hub disaster" has become a complete mystery to me, as no one says anything legitimate but apparently it it was.

People continually refer to this, yet never actually say anything.

What "went down" and why etc.
I don’t have the full details, but there were physical altercations between coaches, players and then some unsavoury stuff happened between partners wives/gf’s.

Let’s just say the Hub was toxic for everything in and around our club. Shaw was left trying to re-build bridges that were burning all around him and it lead him to have a mental breakdown. No leadership, no support around him.

Laughable set of circumstances.

That sounds horrendous for Shaw. Were any senior leaders from the club there with him?

While we're on the subject of bringing in some old heads...Jack Riewoldt?

Good leader, loud voice, premiership player, helps out in an area of need.
Riewoldt, Selwood, Pendlebury and Boak are probably the only 4 elder statesman who I’d back to have a similar influence to Hodge in Hawthorn.

I respect them all, but they're all just so bloody old!

How can you be confident that the pay off of having any of them on board would really be so great, knowing we can only expect any of them on-field for two years, when there are other fitness and standard obsessed tactical generals like Jake Lloyd or Angus Brayshaw who would have 5 years left in their playing careers?

Brayshaw makes sense. He is a good team player, super intelligent and sets high standards. Lloyd is a seagull.

Why not have both?

Dal Santo was 32 and Higgins was 27 when we recruited them, both had positive impacts, in different ways.

Getting Lloyd AND Pendlebury, for instance, would be massive.

Won't happen, of course, but a boy can dream

Mate I woke up at 2am in the middle of a scary cyclonic windstorm last night and decided then and there Dusty, Angus and The Seagull were all getable with our war chest. Dream on I say!

Thank you UG.

Yes, others said the same thing to me ironically about you being a dickhead.

Tarrant is better than McKay. In future, McKay may indeed be better.
It’s not ironic.

I am a dickhead, the only difference being - I don’t care -
Other peoples opinion of me is none of my business.

I’m still shedding friends from my life, it became unmanageable being a decent bloke. You, nah, unemployed, 1 sleep until Xmas, you’d have plenty of time for all your mates.

I bet they love you and your constant disclosing of thought bubbles which for some reason you consider important ant or even factual.

If you say something(anything) of value - I will like it, but that doesn’t mean I want to engage with you.

Not sure Hurn would pack up his life and move to Melbourne for a year or 2.

He strikes me as someone who would have his ducks in a row regarding after footy business and the like.

I think anyone we approach would be in the view of play for a bit and transition into assistant coaching. A lot depends on if anyone is interested in getting into coaching or if they are moving on to some other non-football career.

I would rather the club spend their energy on keeping Goldy and helping Cunnington get fit. More important for culture and morale in my opinion would be Goldy playing 300 in a North jumper and Cunnington splitting his time between mid and forward while LDU takes the number 1 contested mid mantle.

I'd consider Brayshaw as we don't have any developed wingers yet. Maybe a big bodied back who can play a role like Walker would also be handy

The problem with Goldy is that we recruited a ruckman on a 5 year deal, and just signed another for 3 years... Did I tell you we also took another at pick 1 in the MSD last year? 🤣

It doesn't help that we also clearly promised CCJ opportunities and resigning Goldy would likely mean a second year without any. Not sure that will help future recruitment.

If you want to win, you pick your best 22. It s not much to ask when expecting players including CCJ to outplay Goldy for his spot.
