It matters in the context of the discussion that was being had, before you decided to jump in and take things completely out of said context.

I never said I didn't want Eddie. Again you're so worked up that you don't appear to even know what the original discussion was.

As you said, probably time to leave it there.

No but you say its "tired"...

Let's do something fresh and recruit people that are not the best for the job ... yeah we've been good at that for about 20 years haven't we...

I promise you, nobody is getting offended if we recruit Thomas and bring Eddie Betts back to help him out...

Yeah...enough now.

You've completely missed the point and taken the discussion out of context.

We were discussing one thing, and you've come in all guns blazing arguing another.

Yeah until you and jeremy want to turn it into something it's not. We are not parading around some notion saying if the club bring in ANY indigenous player we should bring Eddie on board....

Just think it would be a good move if we were to bring in Thomas.

This was covered pretty comprehensively last week, if I recall.

There is inherent casual racism in the tendency for people to automatically jump from the idea of recruiting an indigenous player to the idea of recruiting them and then employing Eddie Betts to mentor them. It's usually linked to a belief that the player in question needs to have their hand held so they can adjust to the life of a professional athlete.

In Thomas' case it's a bit of a stretch anyway. He grew up in Sydney, played rugby league, made a youth development squad, moved to Tassie, attended a private school and was identified as one of the best prospects in that state a few years out from his draft year.

He's not struggling with a move away from his cultural roots, he's struggling with being stuck at a poorly run and poorly coached club which landed a gun coach (seemingly putting Thomas at ease) who is now the subject of some particularly worrying allegations.

Chalk and cheese. Eddie would be no more or less suitable than any other coach.

It’s why I don’t care about getting Bowes + Pick 7. That draft pick holds no actual value right now, the value comes in developing a player and hoping for the best. Doing the trade will be money on the books that I would rather go to TDK.

Hasnt come anywhere close to earning or deserving that money yet.

read somewhere Riley Bonner could be looking for a new home…solid and skilful…would be a good pickup to play wing.

Of course it would be Thomas is naturally gifted player , managed great tale
More than happy for both Dow and Setterfield to find new homes via trades
Yup makes a lot of sense to let Dow and Setterfield go, our team dynamics,
changed under Vossy and both players seem to have very limited opportunity.
Wish both lads well in future endeavors, and hope we can snare a couple of useful draft picks.

Tip - Don't attach Eddie's name as a mentor for every single player of an indigenous background. It comes across as racist and stereotyping. I'm not one to be the PC police but we've already gone through about 10 pages of the forum last week over a similar post.
Tip - mind your own business and don’t presume to know what my inference is.
